Certified Surgical First Attendant ( CSFA )

As a CSFA you will:

• Works under the direction of the Perioperative Leader to provide safe, high-quality patient care.


• Takes responsibility for supporting the patient, surgeon, and surgical team.


• Anticipates and responds to the needs of the patient and surgical team.


• Assists the surgeon during procedures to help the operation run safely and efficiently.


• Helps with:
  
  
  
  • Providing surgical exposure
  
  
  • Maintaining hemostasis (controlling bleeding)
  
  
  • Performing other technical surgical tasks
  
  
  
  


• Maintains patient and workplace confidentiality.


• Protects private information about patients, families, coworkers, and physicians.

A few must-haves for CSFA's:

• 
  

  Active NBSTSA license in the state of Indiana

  
  


• 
  

  Current BLS certification (American Heart Association ONLY)

  
  


• 
  

  2+ years of recent CSFA experience

  
  


• 
  

  Ability to stay calm under pressure and work both independently and as part of a team

  
  


• 
  

  Proficiency in basic vital signs and medication administration.

  
  


• 
  

  Ability to set up, pass, and assist on a variety of cases. Understand and perform duties of an FA in robotic cases. 

  
  


• Must be okay with occasional floating to Neuro and Ortho along with general OR
