Location: New Sunrise Regional Treatment Center – Pueblo of Acoma, NM

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM | 40 hours/week
Contract Duration: 1 year with 4 option years (up to 5 years total)
Pay: Competitive Hourly Rate (W9 Contractor – All-Inclusive)
About the Opportunity:
Augustine Angels is seeking a compassionate and qualified Licensed Teacher to provide full-time educational services to Native American adolescents at the New Sunrise Regional Treatment Center (NSRTC), a federally operated, tobacco-free residential treatment facility in the Pueblo of Acoma, NM.
You will work with a small group of students (ages 12–17) in a modular school environment, supporting their academic, social, and emotional development during residential treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct academic assessments and develop individualized learning plans
- Deliver lessons across core subjects (GED, elementary, secondary, pre-college)
- Coordinate with NSRTC treatment team and school district personnel
- Maintain daily progress records and chart in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Administer online curriculum and standardized assessments (e.g., WRAT)
- Support students with IEP accommodations and classroom management
- Participate in treatment planning meetings and comply with federal standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid New Mexico Teaching License (required)
- Current BLS certification (ACLS or PALS preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, preferably with high-risk youth
- Experience working with Native American populations or in trauma-informed settings (preferred)
- Must pass federal background check, fingerprinting, and meet IHS requirements
Contract Details:
- Independent Contractor (1099/W9) – No benefits
- All-inclusive hourly rate must cover travel, lodging, taxes, and related expenses
- Must be able to pass background clearance (can take up to 6 months)
- New Mexico teaching license and BLS must be active prior to start date
- Must complete required IHS and federal training (sexual abuse prevention, trauma-informed care, ISSA, etc.)
