Certified Teacher for Students with Visual Impairments Illinois

• Collaborate with families, educators, and service providers.
  


• Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments.
  


• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs).
  


• Adapt curriculum materials and ensure accessibility for all students.
  


• Monitor student progress and maintain compliance with special education requirements.
  


• Deliver direct instruction in Braille, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility (if certified).
  

Requirements

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement in Visual Impairments.
  


• Experience working with students with varying levels of vision loss and additional needs.
  


• Knowledge of assistive technologies, Braille, large print, and accessible instructional design.
  


• Bachelor’s degree in Visual Impairments or Special Education required; Master’s degree preferred!
