Certified Teacher Visually Impaired Caseload

• Tracking student progress, using data to guide instructional decisions and interventions.
  


• Working closely with educators, support personnel, and families to foster inclusive practices.
  


• Creating and sustaining a structured, encouraging, and growth-focused learning environment.
  


• Performing evaluations such as functional vision assessments and learning media assessments.
  


• Maintaining up-to-date records and adhering to all state and federal special education guidelines.
  


• Providing direct teaching in Braille, assistive technologies, and orientation and mobility (if qualified).
  


• Keeping families informed through regular communication, promoting consistency between school and home.
  


• Customizing educational materials and resources to ensure accessibility and equitable learning opportunities.
  


• Designing and delivering Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that reflect each student's unique visual needs.
  

Requirements

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement in Visual Impairments.
  


• Experience working with students with varying levels of vision loss and additional needs.
  


• Knowledge of assistive technologies, Braille, large print, and accessible instructional design.
  


• Bachelor’s degree in Visual Impairments or Special Education required; Master’s degree preferred.
