Under the general direction of the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Services, the Chaplain/Director of Center for Faith & Service ("CFS") directs the operations of CFS which includes the Office of Spiritual Life, the Office of Community Engagement and the Office of Intercultural Engagement. This position supervises a Student Life Fellow, as well as a team of work study students. The mission of CFS is to engage students at levels of self, others, and community in practices of belonging and reflection through programming, community engagement resources, and spiritual care. CFS staff are responsible for programming and events related to faith and spirituality, community engagement and service, and diversity and intercultural engagement. The Chaplain provides pastoral care, spiritual support, and informal counseling for students, partnering closely with the health and counseling staff in the Wellness Center. Additionally, this position and office collaborates with Student Services staff in providing response, direction and assistance during times of crisis on the campus or response to global issues. Collaboration with students, staff, faculty, departments across campus, alumni, board of trustees, parents, and outside groups (alumni, national organizations, etc.) will be key to the success of this position and the Division of Student Services. This is a ten and a half month (10.5) from July 15 - May 31, full-time exempt position, requiring some evening and weekend events.

Education: A Master of Divinity or related degree from and ATS (Association of Theological Schools) accredited institution.? Based upon the demographics and location of the college, it is preferred that the Chaplain be ordained or in the ordination process; however, other qualified candidates will be considered if in good standing with a spiritual tradition or are eligible for professional certification if ordination is not applicable.
Experience: Experience in higher education or working with college students strongly preferred. Experience in multi-faith and familiarity is requested.
Skills: A passionate interest in working with and caring for students in a small residential college setting.? Strong leadership and organizational skills including the willingness and ability to share responsibility for specific activities particularly with students (i.e., demonstrate commitment to student-centered programming approach).? The ability to work with students from different walks of life, (students, faculty, and staff) and a wide variety of religious/nonreligious and social backgrounds.?Must articulate an inclusive theological paradigm or approach to chaplaincy.
