History:

Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was originally located near downtown Stanton. This facility served the community well for many years, but was replaced with a state of the art 18 bed facility in 2012. The new facility is located on I20, and has been designated as a Critical Access Hospital.  

Summary of Responsibilities:

Works under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer and assures provision of care to the assigned patient population in a   professional manner, utilizing the nursing process and principles of continuous quality improvement in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. The Charge Nurse is responsible for the supervision of Nursing Department staff members assigned to the shift. The Charge Nurse is responsible for assigning duties, examining work for exactness, neatness, and   conformance to policies and procedures. The Charge Nurse is also responsible for successful organizational and administrative operation of the shift in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations. They also assure the highest degree of quality patient care is maintained at all times.

Requirements

Education:

• Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited school of nursing
  

Licenses/Certificates:

• Current Registered Nurse license certified by the State of Texas or licensure from a state within the nursing compact required.
• Hold current CPR/BLS or obtain upon hire.
• Credentials in an advanced cardiac life support course (e.g. ACLS or   hospital equivalent) preferred.
• Credentials in a nationally recognized pediatric advanced life support   course (e.g. PALS or ENPC) preferred
• TNCC preferred

Experience: 

• A minimum of 1 year nursing experience is required
• Must possess typing skills and general computer experience   
• Must possess leadership and interpersonal skills    
• Must possess skills in time management and organization   
• Must be able to read, write and speak the English language in an understandable manner     
• Has verbal ability to understand oral and written instructions stated in medical terms and ability to communicate with exchange information with hospital staff and patients.
