Job Description - Cheer Coach

Job Summary:


Mercy Culture Preparatory is seeking a passionate, energetic, and spiritually mature Cheer Coach to lead and mentor our cheerleading team. The Cheer Coach will be responsible for promoting school spirit, athletic excellence, and biblical character development while coaching students in cheer techniques, routines, and leadership.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Spiritual Leadership:

    • Model and promote a Christ-centered lifestyle on and off the field.

    • Pray with and encourage students, fostering their spiritual growth and identity in Christ.

    • Uphold and carry the culture, mission, and values of Mercy Culture Preparatory in all aspects of coaching.



  • Team Management & Training:

    • Plan, organize, and conduct practices, conditioning sessions, and performances.

    • Teach and refine cheerleading techniques, stunts, choreography, and game day routines.

    • Ensure the safety and physical well-being of all team members during practices and events.



  • Event Participation:

    • Lead the cheer team in supporting school athletic events, pep rallies, and other campus activities.

    • Coordinate team presence at community and school-related events when appropriate.



  • Administrative Duties:

    • Develop and manage team schedules, communicate with parents, and coordinate transportation when needed.

    • Maintain equipment, uniforms, and adhere to budget guidelines.

    • Monitor eligibility, attendance, and academic progress of team members.





Qualifications:



  • Strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and active participation in a Spirit-filled church.

  • Previous cheerleading coaching or team leadership experience preferred.

  • Ability to work effectively with middle and high school students.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).

  • Knowledge of TAPPS cheer rules and safety standards.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and occasional weekends based on team activities and games. This position is part-time/seasonal and will be paid through a coaching stipend.
