The Chemical Loadout Operator is responsible for the safe loading, unloading, transfer, and handling of chlor-alkali products, including chlorine, caustic soda, and hydrochloric acid. This position supports plant operations by ensuring products are moved safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Safely load and unload railcars, tank trucks, and other transportation equipment.
Perform product transfers, hose connections, valve alignments, and related loadout activities.
Conduct routine inspections of equipment, piping, hoses, railcars, and loading systems.
Monitor loading operations to ensure product quality, accurate quantities, and safe handling practices.
Maintain required operating logs, inspection records, and loadout documentation.
Follow all safety, environmental, and operating procedures, including OSHA, EPA, DOT, and Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements.
Participate in safety meetings, training, emergency response activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Assist with housekeeping, equipment troubleshooting, maintenance support, railcar movements, and other operational activities as needed.
Report equipment deficiencies, safety concerns, and operational issues promptly.
Requirements
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or GED.
Experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, chemical processing, transportation, or related environments.
Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic computer and communication skills.
Preferred
Experience in chlor-alkali, chemical manufacturing, refining, rail, terminal, or bulk liquid operations.
Railcar loading/unloading experience.
DOT hazardous materials experience.
Forklift or mobile equipment experience.
Experience working in a PSM-regulated environment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and elevated platforms.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators and chemical protective equipment.
Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs as required.
