DuPont is seeking Chemical Operators to work at the Yerkes Plant, located in Buffalo, New York. Yerkes Buffalo is the North American manufacturing home of Corian® solid surface products, introduced in 1968 and the founding manufacturing location for Tedlar® polyvinyl fluoride (PVF) films, introduced in 1961.

Your key responsibilities will be/what you’ll do:​ 

  • ​Monitoring and operating complex chemical processes, equipment, and facilities

  • Reading, interpreting, and following instructions including standard operating conditions and procedures

  • Collecting and analyzing samples and verifying product meets requirements

  • Obtaining, loading, unloading, transporting, storing, and staging of materials

  • Operating mobile equipment

  • Following site safety procedures to prepare and operate equipment

PAY

This role offers a starting hourly rate of $26.44 during the one-week orientation period. After orientation, pay increases to a minimum of $29.08 per hour, with the opportunity to earn up to $37.06 based on role assignment and qualifications.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS​ 

Minimum Skills / Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required

  • Minimum 1-2 years of industrial experience including manufacturing, warehousing, construction, or other equivalent technical trade.  Military experience is also desirable. 

  • Willing and able to perform basic troubleshooting on factory equipment (with training)

  • Willing and able to assist with equipment failure diagnosis/repair alongside maintenance

  • Willing and able to work independently once trained on tasks

  • Demonstrated familiarity with pumping systems, various valve configurations, and the ability to troubleshoot and locate blockages, equipment malfunctions, and system failures

 Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree beyond High School (Associate, Bachelor, etc.) from an accredited program

  • Prior work experience in a chemical plant

  • Experience doing lockouts i.e. isolating hazardous energy sources

  • Experience operating mobile equipment i.e. fork truck

  • Prior experience wearing a respirator

  • Prior experience wearing a chemical resistant suit

  • Experience using computer software including Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

A successful candidate will have the ability to perform the essential duties of the role with or without reasonable accommodation, including the following:

  • Willing and able to work a rotating shift schedule, 8 or 12 hours, including holidays and weekends

  • Willing and able to work overtime, sometimes on short notice, and OT may be mandatory

  • Willing and able to wear appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) including a respirator (clean shaven) and full chemical resistant suit with supplied breathing air

  • Willing and able to lift and move objects that weigh up to 55 lbs (25 kg)

  • Willing and able to climb multiple flights of stairs, multiple times per day

  • Willing and able to work on elevated surfaces climbing open vertical ladders

  • Willing and able to be trained to work in confined spaces

  • Willing and able to drive power industrial truck
