RPh on the go is searching for Chemotherapy Pharmacist. The ideal candidate will have two years experience working in Inpatient Chemotherapy environment.
Duties:
- Medication Preparation: You prepare chemotherapy drugs, which often come in various forms such as intravenous infusions, oral medications, and injections. Ensuring accurate compounding and dosing is crucial to prevent under or overdosing.
- Adherence to Protocols: Chemotherapy protocols are highly specific, outlining the precise drugs, dosages, and administration schedules for different types and stages of cancer. You must adhere strictly to these protocols to optimize treatment outcomes and minimize risks.
- Patient Safety: Patient safety is paramount in chemotherapy treatment. You carefully review patient profiles, medical histories, and laboratory results to ensure that chemotherapy regimens are tailored to individual patient needs and safely administered.
- Monitoring and Management of Side Effects: Chemotherapy often causes various side effects, including nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and immune suppression. You monitor patients closely for adverse reactions and provide supportive care and interventions to manage side effects effectively.
- Education and Counseling: You play a crucial role in educating patients and their caregivers about chemotherapy medications, treatment schedules, potential side effects, and strategies for symptom management. Patient counseling helps empower individuals to actively participate in their treatment and cope with its challenges.
