If you’d be happy to join the Chief Accountant role, where you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and:
Process Ownership: Lead and oversee the entire General Ledger (GL) process for both the Accounting and Warehouse systems, ensuring smooth operations.
Advisory Role: Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues on GL-related topics, helping to resolve any issues and ensure best practices are followed.
Accountability for GL Entries: Ensure the accuracy and correctness of all GL entries, including VAT, salary-related entries.
Monthly Financial Tasks: Take responsibility for monthly accruals, provisions, and other related financial processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Manage and ensure the accuracy of GL balance sheet account reconciliations.
Intercompany Reconciliation: Oversee and ensure the correctness of intercompany reconciliations, fostering smooth financial reporting across entities.
Audit and Control Support: Provide quality support to Audit and Control teams, ensuring compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and company procedures.
Compliance and Service Delivery: Ensure that GL processes comply with Phoenix Group policies and service level agreements (SLAs), maintaining high-quality service delivery across teams.
Continuous Improvement: Assist in implementing initiatives that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting transaction processing and financial reporting.
Process Efficiency and Automation: Actively participate in process efficiency reviews and contribute to the implementation of process automation to enhance operational effectiveness.
We would love you to have...
Degree in Economics or Business Administration or similar.
At least 5+ years of experience in the area of accounting.
Proven experience in GL process ownership or similar roles in accounting or finance.
Ability to manage complex monthly accruals, provisions, and reconciliations.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Experience with intercompany reconciliation processes is a plus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for advisory and team collaboration.
Strong understanding of accounting systems, with specific experience in managing GL and balance sheet reconciliations.
Must be proficient in English (both written and spoken).
