Chief Engineer


The Chief Engineer provides overall technical leadership for the property's building infrastructure, ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of all critical mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and utility systems supporting hotel, casino, entertainment, and back-of-house operations. This individual serves as the senior engineering resource responsible for maintaining continuous operations in a 24/7 hospitality environment.


Key Responsibilities



  • Deliver a high standard of guest service while fostering a positive and collaborative team culture.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering and facilities team through coaching, scheduling, and performance management.

  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and optimization of all major building systems, including HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, life safety, emergency power, and building automation.

  • Ensure the uninterrupted operation of all mission-critical infrastructure supporting gaming, lodging, and entertainment functions.

  • Respond to equipment failures, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and implement long-term corrective solutions.

  • Proactively identify operational risks and develop contingency plans that minimize downtime.

  • Maintain technical ownership of the central plant, including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, domestic hot water systems, water treatment, and related utility infrastructure.

  • Monitor system performance to maximize efficiency, reliability, and equipment life cycle.

  • Manage preventative maintenance programs and coordinate repair activities with internal teams and external service providers.

  • Assist with departmental budgeting, forecasting, and capital equipment planning.

  • Administer vendor relationships, contract performance, and competitive bid processes.

  • Oversee equipment replacement projects and smaller capital improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, fire and life-safety requirements, environmental standards, and gaming-related operational requirements.

  • Serve as the primary engineering representative during inspections, audits, and emergency situations.

  • Participate in emergency response efforts, incident investigations, and root cause analyses.

  • Provide after-hours technical support and remain available for on-call responsibilities as required.

  • Maintain discretion when handling confidential operational information.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Approximately 7-10 years of facilities or engineering experience, including at least 3-5 years in a leadership role overseeing technical operations or engineering teams.

  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.

  • Experience managing preventative maintenance programs, outside contractors, service agreements, and departmental budgets.

  • Working knowledge of building, fire, and safety regulations.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

  • Comfortable using standard business software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, prolonged standing, walking, and overhead work.

  • Willingness to work in a smoking environment and comply with all company safety policies.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience supporting large-scale hospitality, gaming, resort, or other continuously operating facilities.

  • Advanced expertise in HVAC, electrical, and mechanical building systems.

  • Familiarity with building automation and energy management systems.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and industry codes.

  • Professional licenses or certifications related to engineering, HVAC, electrical, or stationary engineering are advantageous.

  • Experience utilizing computerized maintenance management software (CMMS) to oversee work orders, preventive maintenance scheduling, and asset management.
