Full-time

Description

Founded in 1948, Arsenal Credit Union is a thriving, federally insured, state-chartered financial cooperative with $420 million in assets. We are passionate about helping our members take charge of their finances through exceptional service delivered across our branch network and powerful digital banking tools. Our mission is to equip members with the confidence, resources, and technology they need to achieve their financial goals — and crush them!

As a proud recipient of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Top Workplace award in both 2024 and 2025, we celebrate a workplace culture built on unity, trust, and respect. We recognize that our employees are our greatest asset, and we are committed to fostering a welcoming, supportive, inclusive, and inspiring work environment. At Arsenal, you’ll find fair treatment, open communication, and opportunities for personal growth. Together, we empower our employees to advocate for our members, deliver exceptional service, and make a meaningful difference in our community.

We have an opening for a Chief Financial Officer at our Arnold headquarters.

We are seeking a forward-thinking and results-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial strategy, planning, and stewardship of the credit union. While financial growth and asset management are key priorities, this role is first and foremost about ensuring fiscal responsibility, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability.

This member of our leadership team is responsible for developing and executing financial strategies that support organic growth in membership and assets—while maintaining current staffing levels. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in financial planning, asset-liability management, and regulatory compliance, with a clear understanding that disciplined financial oversight is essential to sustainable success.

As a key member of the leadership team, you will oversee all aspects of finance—including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, investments, and risk management—while fostering a healthy organizational culture and building on our existing strengths. You will also play an active role in strategic planning and cross-functional collaboration to support the credit union’s long-term growth objectives.

What will you be responsible for:

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
  • Manage asset-liability strategies to ensure optimal balance sheet performance.
  • Monitor and manage liquidity, capital adequacy, and investment portfolios.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial operations.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives that improve cost-effectiveness and resource allocation.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a role model for the credit union’s mission, vision, and values.

Requirements

What skills does this position require?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of senior-level management experience within a financial institution, with a specific focus in Finance, or a minimum of twelve (12) years of credit union auditor/examiner experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, investments, and asset/liability management, particularly as regulated under NCUA and the Missouri Division of Credit Unions
  • Proven experience in analyzing data, creating models based on analysis, and identifying investment opportunities
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex financial information to all levels of the organization, including the Board of Directors.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze complex financial data and systems.
  • Proven ability in leading and managing high-performing, diverse teams within the financial services industry.
  • Ability to travel to different branch locations and various training or networking events.
  • Proficiency in Office 365, accounting systems, and financial institution core software
