Chief Investment Officer

Job Description - Chief Investment Officer

About LifeLine Financial Group

LifeLine Financial Group is a boutique multi-family office dedicated to serving globally dynamic families — founders, professional athletes, entertainers, and cultural leaders — as they build and sustain generational wealth. With offices in Beverly Hills, Denver, and Houston, LifeLine provides integrated financial services encompassing investment management, tax strategy, estate planning, cash-flow oversight, and risk management. The firm currently manages approximately $600 million in client assets and is executing an ambitious growth strategy targeting $1 billion in AUM within the next two to three years.

The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to serve as the first dedicated Chief Investment Officer at a high-growth, founder-led multi-family office. LifeLine's client base represents some of the most dynamic wealth-creation stories in sports,

entertainment, and entrepreneurship — and the CIO will be the architect of the investment philosophy, process, and platform that protects and compounds that wealth across generations.

The founding principal is deeply involved in the business and in client relationships. The ideal candidate thrives in a

collaborative, entrepreneurial environment where they can operate with significant autonomy, move quickly, and make a direct and visible impact. This is not a bureaucratic seat — it is a builder's role for someone who wants to own the investment function end-to-end.

What You Will Do

Investment Strategy &Portfolio Management

  • Design, own, and continually refine the firm's investment philosophy, asset allocation framework, and portfolio construction methodology across all client relationships.

  • Build and manage diversified investment portfolios spanning public equities, fixed income, alternative investments, private equity, real assets, and hedge funds.

  • Develop and maintain a unified model portfolio framework that is customized to individual client risk profiles, liquidity needs, time horizons, and tax circumstances.

  • Drive manager selection and due diligence across all asset classes, establishing a rigorous evaluation process for both traditional and alternative investment managers.

  • Monitor portfolio performance, conduct attribution analysis, and present findings and recommendations to clients and the founding principal on a regular basis.

Client Advisory & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the senior investment voice in client relationships, translating complex investment concepts into clear, compelling narratives tailored to each clients level of sophistication.

  • Prepare and present quarterly investment reviews, annual financial plans, and ad hoc analyses to high-net-worth clients and their family members.

  • Collaborate closely with the firm's CPAs, CFPs, and JDs to deliver fully integrated financial advice that aligns investment strategy with tax, estate, and cash-flow planning.

  • Advise clients on concentrated equity positions, liquidity events, charitable giving strategies, and generational wealth transfer in coordination with the broader advisory team.

Growth & Business Development

  • Partner with the founding principal to support the firm's growth from $600 million to $1 billion in AUM, contributing to new client acquisition through thought leadership, referral networks, and client retention.

  • Develop institutional-quality investment reporting, market commentary, and client-facing content that reflects the firm's capabilities and investment perspective.

  • Evaluate and build relationships with external managers, custodians, and platforms as the firm's investment infrastructure scales.

Leadership & Infrastructure

  • Build and lead the investment function, including establishing processes, systems, and eventual team infrastructure as the firm grows.

  • Work directly with and report to the founding principal, serving as a key voice in firmwide strategic decisions related to growth, product, and client experience.

  • Establish investment policy statements, risk management frameworks, and compliance-aligned investment guidelines for the firm and its clients.

What Sets This Role Apart

  • Direct influence over the investment direction of a high-growth, founder-led firm with a compelling and differentiated client base.

  • Visibility and proximity to the founding principal — this is a seat at the table, not a middle-management role.

  • Clients include professional athletes, entertainers, and founders — complex, interesting, and rewarding relationships that demand creative, integrated thinking.

  • Significant autonomy to build the investment function the right way, with the backing and resources of an established and growing firm.

  • Los Angeles market with a hybrid work structure offering flexibility alongside meaningful in-person collaboration.

Qualifications

Required

  • 10+ years of investment management experience, with meaningful exposure to high-net-worth or ultra-high-net-worth clients in a family office, RIA, private bank, or wealth management setting.

  • Demonstrated expertise in multi-asset class portfolio construction, manager due diligence, and alternative investments.

  • Strong client-facing presence with the ability to present investment strategy clearly and credibly to sophisticated clients and family principals.

  • Proven ability to operate in a founder-led or entrepreneurial environment — someone who takes ownership, moves decisively, and does not require a large institutional support structure.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to distill complex ideas into clear recommendations.

  • CFA designation or equivalent professional credential strongly preferred.

Preferred

  • Experience serving professional athletes, entertainers, or other high-profile clients with concentrated wealth, irregular income, and complex financial lives.

  • Exposure to tax-aware investing, charitable planning, and estate-integrated portfolio management in close collaboration with legal and tax advisors.

  • Familiarity with alternative investment platforms and manager ecosystems serving the ultra-high-net-worth market.

  • MBA or advanced degree in finance, economics, or a related field.

  • Existing network of investment manager relationships and institutional contacts.

Compensation & Benefits

LifeLine Financial Group offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with the scope and seniority of this role. Total compensation includes a base salary, performance-based bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) with employer match, and flexible PTO. Additional details are available upon request.
