Company Description


Cognito Therapeutics, Inc. is a venture-backed (Morningside Ventures, FoundersX) startup company translating scientific findings from MIT into therapeutic approaches for Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative conditions. We were awarded a Breakthrough designation by the FDA in December 2020 based upon our feasibility data that showed preservation of cognition and function in Alzheimer's patients. Cognito initiated our pivotal study for treatment of Alzheimer’s in Dec 2022. We are a fast-moving, highly motivated team of people with the ambitious goal of helping millions of patients and caregivers around the world who are burdened by neurodegenerative conditions. With our patented gamma stimulation technology, we are committed to developing non-invasive device-based therapies.


Summary of Role


We are seeking a highly organized, adaptable, and proactive Chief of Staff to support the CEO and executive leadership team. As a key player in a fast-paced startup environment, you will assist in streamlining operations, managing cross-functional initiatives, and ensuring that strategic priorities are executed effectively. This is an excellent opportunity for an emerging leader to gain broad exposure to all aspects of the business while playing a critical role in the company's growth. As the Chief of Staff, you will own the delivery of key goals and objectives from the office of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This position will be responsible for managing board relations, streamlining company-wide operations, and maintaining synergy around Cognito Therapeutics’ OKRs.


Deliverables:


You will be responsible for:



  • Executive Operational Strategy: Develop and drive operational strategies and processes to support the company's growth objectives and enhance overall efficiency. Collaborate with department heads to identify and address challenges.

  • Process Improvement: Work with senior leadership to set, monitor, and achieve goals in accordance with Cognito’s annual objectives. Ensure that all departments understand and are aligned with company objectives. Track progress and provide regular updates to the CEO on the status of key initiatives.

  • All Hands Meetings: In conjunction with HR, own monthly All Hands meeting that will provide company-wide updates on progress.

  • Fundraising Facilitation: Coordination and communication with leadership, the Board, and external investors to support the Series C and future fundraising rounds.

  • Board Management: Serve as the primary liaison between the CEO and the Board of Directors. Coordinate board meetings, prepare and distribute meeting materials, and ensure follow-up on action items.

  • Maintain effective communication with board members, providing updates on company progress and strategic initiatives.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including R&D, engineering, and sales, to ensure alignment and support for new product development and market launch. Working and connecting diverse teams to drive cross-functional efficiency to support our company's growth and success.

  • CEO Schedule & Calendaring: Act as a right-hand to the CEO, providing operational support to ensure the CEO’s time is spent on the highest-priority activities. Directing Executive Admin to CEO regarding scheduling meetings and travel for CEO.


Qualifications:



  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management, preferably in the medical device or healthcare industry. Experience with start-ups is highly desirable.
