The Chief of Staff (CoS) works directly with the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of S&P Global Ratings and with the CCO’s senior leadership team both internally and externally. The role reports directly to the CCO and will work with the utmost confidentiality acting as a liaison and advisor. 

  

The Impact: The role of Chief of Staff is strategic and facilitative and requires a combination of analysis and project management skills together with a willingness to play an active, behind-the-scenes role. This means being a central intelligence and execution layer for the organisation amplifying leadership effectiveness through AI-enabled operations, automation, and data-driven decision systems, while upholding Ratings’ high standards of analytical rigour, governance, and trust. You will increasingly operate at the intersection of strategy, analytics, technology, risk/governance, and execution, helping ensure the organisation evolves with precision and leverages machine-augmented capabilities in a rapidly changing environment.

Responsibilities:  

  • Optimisation of the CCO’s time, Manage and prioritise the CCO’s focus by triaging requests and aligning time allocation to the highest-value decisions and strategic priorities.

  • Executive materials & presentation excellence: Develop high-impact presentations and pre-reads with strong narrative structure, including structured briefing notes, risks and effective data visualization to support decision-making

  • Decision & action management: Maintain critical OneCommercial projects and programs, decision logs and action tracking, ensuring clear ownership, timely follow-through, and escalation of risks to drive measurable outcomes.

  • Executive offsites & critical forums: With guidance from CCO, Plan and deliver offsites and key meetings end-to-end (Setting agenda for weekly OneCommercial leadership team reporting to CCO), Senior management training and team building projects ensuring clear objectives, effective facilitation, and actionable outputs.

  • Partner with Communications to drive CCO communications, stakeholder outreach, and speaking engagements (internal and external) and ensure consistent, clear cascades of strategy, priorities, and decisions across the division.

  • Performance visibility & reporting: Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting that provide clear visibility on execution health, enabling faster, data-driven decisions by leveraging internal resources to collect and analyze key data including KPI and financial performance metrics.

  • Support CCO’s reporting activities; coordinate and support the preparation of CCO reports for internal awareness of the key developments in One Commercial. 

  • Drive the effectiveness and organization of the CCO; 1) Drive domestic and international trip planning to maximize the CCO time and impact with key stakeholders and customers, 2) Analyze and create a strategic view of the CCO’s calendar with recommendations of countries to visit, 3) Facilitate effective interactions between CCO and internal/external constituents (meeting prep, briefings, follow-ups, etc.). Travel with the CCO as needed (domestic and international). 

  • Track progress on action items for the CCO to present to the President and other members of Ratings’ Opco. 

  • Execution of selected key initiatives or projects and additional duties as assigned by the CCO. 

  • Proactive management the Office of CCO T&E Budget. 

  • Partner with Divisional and Enterprise Chiefs of Staff to achieve enterprise outcomes. 

  • Represent OneCommercial with professionalism, acting as a role model for delivery excellence. 

  • Cross-functional execution: Drive alignment and coordination across teams to ensure priority initiatives progress effectively and remain aligned to strategic objectives. This includes building and maintaining a strong network with other Chiefs of Staff across S&P Global, sharing best practices, aligning on enterprise priorities, and mobilising the right connections to accelerate execution and amplify impact across Ratings and the wider organisation.

  • AI-enabled productivity & automation: Design and implement AI enabled workflows that remove manual, low leverage work and improve quality and cycle time; this includes embedding LLM powered tools into day-to-day operations, deploying automation and agentic workflows where appropriate, and partnering with Data/Engineering to identify and scale high ROI use cases with the right controls.

  • Governance, judgment & confidentiality: Operate with discretion and sound judgment, supporting governance processes and escalating risks appropriately.

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates:) S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $124,192 USD to $232,000 USD. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. What We’re Looking For:  

  • An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 8+ years of experience in financial services, professional services or related field

  • Deep knowledge and understanding of S&P Global Rating’s businesses, products and services. 

  • Ability to represent the role and the Office of the CCO with a style that is aligned with the CCO; maturity to work with confidence and urgency and balancing the role without ego. 

  • Proven ability to optimise senior executive effectiveness, including prioritising time, triaging inputs, and ensuring focus on the highest value decisions and strategic priorities.

  • Strong organisational and planning capability, with experience supporting complex executive cadences coordinating inputs, and ensuring well-structured, high-quality materials and discussions.

  • Highly effective at executive synthesis and communication, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, concise, decision-ready narratives and presentations.

  • Exceptional execution discipline, with a track record of managing cross-functional initiatives, tracking decisions and actions, and ensuring timely follow-through and delivery against priorities.

  • Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align senior leaders and teams across a global, matrixed organisation and maintain momentum across competing priorities.

  • Experience planning and supporting high-impact forums (e.g., offsites, town halls, critical meetings), ensuring clear objectives, strong facilitation, and actionable outcomes.

  • Highly analytical and data-driven, with the ability to define KPIs, build performance narratives, and translate insights into clear actions and decisions.

  • Strong fluency in AI, automation, and emerging technologies, with hands-on experience applying LLMs and workflow automation to improve operating efficiency, decision-making, and scalability.

  • Systems thinker with a product mindset, focused on building repeatable, scalable processes and embedding AI-enabled ways of working into day-to-day operations.

  • High level of business judgment, discretion, and emotional intelligence, with the ability to operate effectively in sensitive, high-stakes environments and navigate complex governance structures.

  Additional Information:

  • Employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
