Job Description - Chief Operating Officer

The Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Position overview:

The Chief Operating Officer (COO), at SNB Bank, will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, strategic planning, and overall organizational effectiveness. Reporting directly to the CEO/President, the COO will be responsible for developing retail banking, overseeing all aspects of day-to-day operations, improving efficiency, and supporting the delivery of exceptional customer experiences. The COO’s leadership, vision, and expertise will be crucial in achieving our purpose to help our customers with the highest standards of banking services.

Key responsibilities:

Operations management:

Overseeing the daily operations of the company across various departments such as production, marketing, and sales to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. This includes managing the quality of products and services and process improvements. Lead efforts to design and implement a road map for operational success and ensure it is followed and updated consistently. Streamline processes and procedures to enhance operational efficiency, minimize risks, and improve overall customer satisfaction. Regularly assess the effectiveness of operations and implement improvements to optimize performance.

Strategy implementation : Working closely with the CEO and other executives to develop strategies for the company's growth and ensuring their successful implementation this includes setting operational goals, aligning departmental goals with the company's strategic objectives, and monitoring progress. Collaborate with the CEO/President to facilitate expansion activities, acquisitions, and corporate alliances. Identifying opportunities, translating vision into strategy, and turn strategies into specific action plans to create a culture that is open to change.

Team leadership and development : Leading, motivating and managing teams across the organization. This involves hiring and training department heads and other key personnel, setting performance standards, and ensuring employees are aligned with the company's goals and culture. Provide mentorship and guidance to department managers and other employees, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and professional growth. Visit branches to obtain feedback from the field about retail team members, facilities, products and services, and the communities we serve.

Financial management:

Overseeing the company’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and investments. The COO works closely with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to ensure financial strategies support the overall business objectives.

Risk and compliance management:

Identifying and mitigating risks to the business. This involves overseeing compliance with laws and regulations, managing operational risk, and preparing for potential crises or downturns. Ensure strict adherence to all applicable banking regulations, laws, and internal policies.

Stakeholder communication:

Acting as a key liaison between the company and its stakeholders, including investors, customers, suppliers, and community organizations. This involves communicating operational achievements and challenges and gathering feedback to inform strategy. Represent the bank and develop working relationships with industry professional organizations, government entities, and service providers.

Innovation and technology integration:

Driving innovation within the company and integrating new technologies to improve operations, product offerings, and customer service.

Performance measurement:

Setting operational metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the company’s operations. This includes regular reporting on these metrics to the CEO and the board of directors.

Customer and market focus : Ensuring the company stays attuned to customer needs and market trends to maintain competitiveness. This includes overseeing marketing and customer service strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.

are included, as assigned by the CEO/ President of SNB Bank.

Supervisory responsibilities and reporting:

· Supervises branch managers, all operations staff.

· Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Branch Operations with Branch Manager.

· Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or a related field.

· Proven experience (typically 10+ years) in progressively responsible leadership roles within the banking industry, with a strong focus on operations and administration.

· Demonstrated success in driving operational efficiency and process improvements. Ability to: understand/analyze performance/production data to identify improvement opportunities; manage complex projects that impact operations effectively and within time and budget; ensure policies, procedures, risk parameters and guidelines of organization are met; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

· Excellent leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

· Knowledgeable of the principles, practices and legal issues relating to staff supervision and performance management, strategic planning, and budget administration.

· Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management.

· Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

· Some travel required.

Billings, Montana - This position is based in Laurel, MT area and requires periodically travel to remote branch locations in Idaho and Wyoming. Flexibility with Pacific and Mountain time zones to align with our operational hours and team collaboration with remote employees.
