About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Research Informatics Officer for Basic Sciences (CRIO) to lead and advance its computational infrastructure for basic science. The ideal candidate will be an experienced technology and scientific leader, responsible for guiding the development and use of technologies to support the organization's research goals. This executive will be a primary advocate for basic science research faculty, developing a vision and roadmap for implementing technology, tools, and programs. The CRIO will also be tasked with forming strong partnerships with other leaders, both within and outside the organization, to create a common infrastructure and toolset for basic science faculty. A key aspect of the role is the development of a team to provide ongoing support, maintenance, and education on tools and systems for basic science researchers.The successful candidate must demonstrate extraordinary leadership in fostering access to research computing infrastructure and technology, as well as the use of applied informatics in the research enterprise. They will be expected to act as a strong advocate for faculty, identifying and implementing solutions that meet their needs efficiently and safely. Financial responsibility is also a crucial aspect of the role, requiring the creation of sustainable financial models to support the organization's research efforts. The CRIO will provide a voice for basic science faculty in data governance and technology prioritization, and will be a visible, active member of the organization's leadership. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for this position.
