The chief strategy officer (CSO) plays a critical role in propelling A.T. Still University (ATSU) forward. This executive position leads and oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of key initiatives aimed at enhancing the University’s academic programs, increasing access to patient care, securing funding, and optimizing institutional effectiveness. The CSO will function as a key member of the Chancellor's Executive Cabinet.
Key Responsibilities:
The CSO will collaborate with the chancellor, Executive Cabinet, and university leaders to develop, oversee, and monitor the execution of the University's key initiatives. The CSO will support school/college and university leadership in managing strategic projects and leading workgroups to develop and communicate strategies. The CSO will serve as an innovative leader in organizational improvements, facilitate the Chancellor's management of strategic functions, and partner with University Advancement to raise funds, particularly in St. Louis. Representing the chancellor and ATSU at various meetings, advising on strategic initiatives, and supporting the development of additional academic locations and clinical rotations are also crucial aspects of the role. Additionally, the CSO will lead special projects, manage complex university projects, and oversee all strategic aspects of assigned responsibilities. The position is located full-time in the St. Louis, Missouri, metropolitan area.
Qualifications:
A doctorate and experience in higher education administration, health sciences education (ideally with a background in osteopathic medicine), and strategic planning are essential. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial management, fundraising (particularly major gifts), and community engagement skills. A commitment to ethical leadership, cultural competency, technology innovation, and legal compliance is also essential. Experience with healthcare delivery models is a plus.
