JOB TITLE:            CHILD ADVOCATE/PROGRAM MANAGER


DEPARTMENT:    Office of the Prosecutors


CLASS:                   Full-Time

JOB SUMMARY:


To provide advocate services for children – ages 0 to 18 years of age with legal guidance in the Hualapai Tribal Court. The Child advocacy must be highly skilled with professional experience in victim advocacy, child welfare and multidisciplinary collaboration. Working directly with traumatized victims with empathy and respect. The advocate needs to be versatile in learning about the culture and environment in which they work. The advocate will assist in providing referrals for services identified as a need for the victim – mental health, medical, nutritional, shelter, legal advocacy. Experience in working directly with children, teens is essential.



EMPLOYMENT DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:


· Comprehension of child development


· Experience in working with children and families of various ages, race, culture


· Experience in working directly with traumatized victim(s)


· Strong case management skills, ensuring victims and families receive comprehensive support services


· Ability to interpret and update tribal codes to enhance protection for the child victims


· Interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills to engage with victims, families, and partner agencies


· Knowledge of community outreach, training and ensuring participation in community programs


· Knowledge of cultural response services that are available which promote Native traditional healing


· Knowledge of services available in the community, county and or state which provide a service to the victim and families


· Advocates will be required to attend a Cultural sensitivity class and participate in the Cultural advisory team to develop a sensitive training course for the MDT



EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND/OR SKILLS REQUIRED:


· Bachelor’s degree in social work, criminal justice, psychology, child development or a related field


· Specialized training in trauma-informed care, forensic interviewing or child advocacy is highly


desirable


· Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in victim advocacy, child welfare, prosecution/prosecution support or law enforcement


· Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary team (MDT), working with law enforcement, prosecutors, human services, mental health professionals and victim advocates


· Experience in developing and implementing policies related to child abuse investigations, forensic interviewing and victim services.


· Experience in grant-funded program administrative duties including compliance monitoring, reporting and data management.


· Ability to pass a background check


· Must pass a drug screen


· Possess a valid Arizona driver’s license
