Child Care Assistant Teacher

Brooklyn Center Community School District is hiring passionate educators to join our Community Education team as Assistant Teachers in two key roles: Centaur Beginnings Assistant Toddler Teacher (birth–3 years) and Pre-K Wrap Around Assistant Teacher at Brooklyn Center Elementary School.

Your Role Will Include:

• Educational Excellence: Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum that supports social, emotional, and intellectual growth, while fostering a safe and engaging learning environment. Monitor developmental progress and support individualized learning and positive social interactions.
• Leadership & Collaboration: Partner with assistant staff and volunteers, communicate effectively with families, and provide guidance on child development and parenting, all while delivering excellent customer service.
• Daily Adventures: Lead activities that build confidence and independence, maintain organized and welcoming classroom spaces, and manage daily routines, attendance, and behavior with care and positivity.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Work under the supervision of a qualified teacher.
• Assistant Teacher qualification under Minnesota DHS Rule 3.
• Passion for working with young children and families.

• Strong communicator with excellent verbal and written skills.
• Culturally competent professional who thrives in diverse environments.
• Skilled multitasker who can balance priorities and meet deadlines.
• Collaborative team player with experience supporting both students and adults.

Salary and Benefits:

• Salary Range: $16.71 - $21.79 per hour (Depending on Qualifications).

Location & Shift Times:

Centaur Beginnings Assistant Toddler Teacher at Brooklyn Center Early Learning Center. 

• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
• Hours: 8 hours daily.
• Duration: School year with potential summer opportunities.

Pre-K Wrap Around Assistant Teacher at Brooklyn Center Elementary School. 

• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:15 AM - 2:45 PM.
• Hours: 7 hours daily. 
• Duration: School year (student contact days + select teacher duty days).
