Gretchen's House Childcare Centers have been providing child development programs for infants through school age children for over forty years. We currently serve more than 500 families at locations in Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Houghton, and Marquette, MI.

Gretchen's House partners with HighScope to create a play based, child-directed, and hands-on learning environment. Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in early childhood education or related field and two years’ experience teaching and/or directing in a childcare setting.
• Ability to create an atmosphere of positive and appropriate discipline.
• Complete HighScope TOT as arranged through GH administration.
• Appropriate Attendance
• Ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children, co-workers and families
• Personnel File up to date:
• CPR/First Aid
• Current TB Test
• Current Physical
• Other Immunizations as required
• Sensitive to the individual needs of families
• Ability to communicate with families effectively
• Ability to supervise variety of staff
• Knowledge of rules, regulations and standards (licensing and NAEYC)
• Knowledge of child development
• Ability to provide appropriate guidance
• Ability to seek supervision and use it constructively
• Evidence of emotional maturity and stability
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
• Evidence of sufficient judgment to handle crisis
