Job Description - Children Supports Services Supervisor

Description

POSITION SUMMARY: 

This position includes both direct service provision and administrative supervision within the Children Supports program. The role provides part-time Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) services to children with developmental disabilities and part-time coordination, supervision, and administration of Section 28 services. The supervisor portion of the role involves leading staff, supporting service delivery, and ensuring compliance with program and state guidelines. This position is critical in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, family-centered care to children receiving Rehabilitation Training services

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Behavioral Health Professional Responsibilities – minimum of 15% of time will be expected to do Direct BHP care. (This will adjust based on the number of members in our program in order to keep rations manageable):

  • Provide direct support and therapeutic services to children in home and community settings.
  • Educate and oversee children in Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), behavior management, and socialization.
  • Implement and facility weekly groups for clients based on the needs of program based on age, treatment goals, etc.
  • Ensure safety and well-being, including appropriate behavioral interventions as needed.
  • Provide personal care assistance and transport individuals as needed.
  • Accurately document all services, behavior plans, and progress notes.

Supervisory Responsibilities up to 85% of time will be focused on case supervision (This will adjust based on the number of members in our program in order to keep rations manageable):

Assist the Director of Children’s Services to coordinate and oversee Section 28’s services for eligible children and families.

  • Develop Individual Treatment Plans (ITPs) and monitor progress for all children in the program.
  • Assist the Director in hiring, train, and provide regular supervision to BHP staff.
  • Complete intake assessments, conduct monthly and quarterly meetings, and facilitate other team meetings as needed.
  • Ensure staff compliance with all regulatory, documentation, and professional standards.
  • Collaborate with families, case managers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective and appropriate service delivery.
  • Review and assist staff in completing quality progress notes that meet company and licensing standards. 
  • Maintain all digital and paper records and maintain the quality that will meet all licensing and regulatory requirements

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

6. Maintain confidentiality by keeping information concerning clients, employees and the Association itself confidential.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, taste or smell, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee will also need the strength and balance required to perform the activities associated with range of motion activities that are required as part of some individuals’ program.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move 25 to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. These physical demands will vary depending on the area of the program.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work environments may include client homes, community settings, and office spaces.
  • Noise levels vary from quiet (administrative settings) to moderate/loud (client homes, community activities).
  • Must be able to travel regularly throughout Aroostook County and occasionally throughout the state.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a variety of home and work settings where there are individuals that smoke or have pets and may work near moving mechanical parts. The employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. Exposure to clients who may exhibit verbal and physically aggressive behavior. Risk to exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Noise levels can be loud. May be responsible for transporting individuals in their own vehicles. 

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION:

Experience and Skill Requirements: The following experience and skills are considered essential:

  • Passing a background check
  • Listening/comprehension skills, and ability to understand client needs and unidentified challenges.
  • Client-Centered Focus: Conduct that demonstrates commitment to providing excellent service to recipients of services.
  • Personal and Professional Conduct: Actions that characterize high ethical and moral standards and behavior towards others at work and that portray the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Initiative/Creativity:  Conduct demonstrating originality and imagination to identify new, efficient, useful methods or improvements to implement Association philosophy.
  • Computer experience using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software products required; ability to learn and effectively use other software programs as needed.
  • Ability to pass all required training courses specified by the program.

Education Requirements: The following education requirements are considered essential:

  • A bachelor’s degree in social work, Social Welfare, or a related human services field is required.
  •  A minimum of 2 years working with Children with children with developmental disabilities is required. 
  • A minimum of 1 years of supervisory experience is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Valid State of Maine Driver’s License required and insurability under agency policy.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification – required within 3 months.
  • Safety-Care Certification – required within 3 months.
  • Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) Certification – required within 12 months.
