Job Type: Part-Time, In-Person
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00–6:00 p.m.
Hourly Rate: $19.00 per hour
Supervisor: After Care Coordinator and Children’s House Director

About the Position

Are you dependable, nurturing, and interested in supporting young children during their after-school hours? Sterling Montessori is seeking a part-time Children’s House After Care Team Member to work with children ages 3–6.

The ideal candidate is calm, attentive, reliable, and willing to learn. Previous experience working with children ages 3–6 is preferred but not required. However, candidates must be willing to participate fully in on-site training and embrace Sterling Montessori’s child-centered practices, expectations, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

As a Children’s House After Care Team Member, you will:

• Provide attentive and active supervision of children ages 3–6.


• Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and respectful after-school environment.


• Support children during snack, activities, outdoor play, transitions, and dismissal.


• Encourage independence while responding appropriately to children’s developmental and emotional needs.


• Use calm, respectful, and consistent language when guiding children.


• Build positive and appropriate relationships with students, families, and colleagues.


• Follow all school procedures related to safety, attendance, dismissal, and student care.


• Assist with preparing, organizing, and cleaning the After Care environment.


• Communicate promptly with the After Care Coordinator regarding student needs, concerns, or incidents.


• Participate in required on-site training and apply the practices and expectations presented.


• Work collaboratively with other After Care employees and school staff.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

• A genuine interest in working with children ages 3–6.


• A nurturing, patient, and child-centered approach.


• Reliability and consistent availability from 3:00–6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.


• Willingness to learn and embrace required on-site training.


• Ability to follow established procedures and respond appropriately to coaching and feedback.


• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.


• Ability to supervise children actively in both indoor and outdoor settings.


• Ability to meet all employment, background-check, and school health and safety requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children ages 3–6.


• Experience in a preschool, childcare, Montessori, summer camp, or after-school setting.


• Familiarity with Montessori education, Positive Discipline, or other respectful child-guidance practices.


• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
