POSITION SUMMARY:

The Church Engagement Manager is responsible for building and nurturing dynamic partnerships with churches to grow financial support, volunteer involvement, and spiritual engagement across Southwest Florida. This position serves as a key relationship builder between St. Matthew’s House and the local church community, aligning church engagement efforts with our faith-based mission to serve people experiencing hunger, homelessness and addiction. The role includes strategic collaboration with development, outreach, and program teams to facilitate speaking engagements, group service opportunities, and ministry aligned fundraising efforts. St. Matthew’s House is a faith based 501(c)(3) charitable organization that exists to transform lives in a spiritual environment that is both compassionate and disciplined.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Church Partnership Development
  • Build and maintain relationships with pastors, church staff, missions’ committees, and lay leaders across diverse denominations.
  • Secure speaking opportunities for senior leaders or designated presenters at worship services, Sunday schools, Bible studies, or church events.
  • Serve as the logistical point of contact before, during, and after each speaking engagement.

Messaging & Materials

  • Collaborate with the marketing and development teams to adapt messages and materials for various denominational setting (evangelical, liturgical, charismatic, etc.).
  • Ensure church partners receive customized communications that reflect their values and language while staying aligned with the ministry’s overall voice. 

Giving & Volunteer Engagement

  • Encourage and support churches in mobilizing their congregants for volunteer opportunities and giving campaigns. 
  • Partner with the Community Outreach Manager to facilitate service days or group volunteer events.
  • Track donor and volunteer activity stemming from church relationships to assess impact and inform future strategy.

Strategic Collaboration

  • Work with the Director of Institutional Giving to identify high-impact churches and build long-term engagement plans. 
  • Coordinate internally to align church engagement with broader fundraising and community outreach goals. 
  • Manage CRM tracking of church communications, proposals, volunteer engagement, and relationship history.

Event Participation

  • Represent St. Matthew’s House at fundraising events and assist with event coordination, especially when churches are involved.
  • Promote church participation in annual events, drives and holiday initiatives.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in community outreach, ministry, development, or relationship management.
  • Strong understanding of church culture and structure, with the ability or engage across denominational lines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an emphasis on relationship-building and follow-through.

Skills & Working Conditions

  • Ability to create pathways for others to present effectively rather than serving as the lead speaker. 
  • Deep alignment with the ministry’s Christin mission and values. 
  • Familiarity with Lee County church networks is highly desirable. 
  • Experience with CRM or donor management software is a plus. 
  • Must be willing to travel throughout Lee County regularly.
  • This position requires valid FL driver’s license, reliable transportation, and personal auto insurance limits of at least 100/300/100 carried throughout employment period. 
  • The employee is required to handle, feel and/or reach with hands and arms, squatting, bending, and constantly moving on a regular basis. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
