Reports To:              Brew Master & Brewery Operations Manager        

FLSA Status:             Non-exempt

Summary

Responsible for the proper execution of assigned daily cleaning operations. This covers all areas of the brewery.  This includes Unitanks and Brite tank CIPs, Canning line CIP’s, COP and Dry hop operations, keg cleaning, as well as assisting the packaging line and other production areas as needed.

Core Schedule: Full Time, M-F Swing shift 2 P.M. – 10P.M. subject to modification
                         Training on day shift!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.

  • CIP Unitanks
  • CIP Brite beer tanks and O2 purges
  • CIP the canning line
  • Keg cleaning
  • Performs CIPs of all other vessels including: brewing vessels, dry hop vessels, process lines, (including assembly and disassembly of process lines and loops), yeast brinks and propagator.
  • Mixes and uses chemicals safely (Wears proper PPE, uses the appropriate chemical for the task, uses cleaning equipment safely, safely carries buckets with chemicals)
  • Perform periodic maintenance to ensure the safe and effective running of the plant and machinery.
  • Follows all SOPs and best practices for brewing cleaning operations in a safe and efficient manner; evaluates and recommends practice or SOP changes
  • Maintains an organized, sanitary, and safe work area by cleaning up messes quickly, keeping tools in the appropriate storage areas after use, cleans and sanitizes any item that may contact product immediately after use
  • Performs basic maintenance and troubleshooting of process equipment. Performs light duty mechanical adjustments; manually or with small hand tools.
  • Maintain visual aesthetics of the brewery and its equipment.
  • Participate in various on-site and off-site beer events as required.
  • Maintain accurate brewery inventory, quality and production records
  • Perform any lab tests and other QA/QC functions needed to ensure consistency in the high quality of all cleaning operations. This will also include sterile sample taking.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with a high attention to detail. Education and/or Experience

  • At least 2 years of hands-on commercial brewery experience required with an emphasis on CIP/cleaning operations.
  • Diploma/Certificate in Brewing or Fermentation or any combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved required
  • Knowledge of Dissolved Oxygen, CO2 and ATP measuring equipment desired

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Gaming B License  (As provided for a nominal fee with a clean background check)

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those employees encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. The brewery environment can be hot, cold, wet, or humid and noisy. The employee is regularly exposed to tobacco smoke and may be exposed to loud noises and bright lights.

Candidates for all positions must be at least 21 years of age and be able to pass a background check and drug screen. Applicants must have a California I.D., a Social Security Card, and a Birth Certificate.
