PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The CTZN Coffee Lead oversees all aspects of Citizen Church’s coffee ministry, combining a passion for hospitality with strong leadership and operational excellence. This role ensures CTZN Coffee is a welcoming, efficient, and mission-driven environment—where volunteers are empowered, products are crafted with care, and guests experience the heart of Citizen Church.
With a focus on team development, financial stewardship, and innovation, the CTZN Coffee Lead supports ongoing ministry goals and expansion projects, including North Campus initiatives. Through intentional leadership and a servant’s heart, this role helps foster meaningful connection, community, and growth—one cup at a time.

II. DUTIES:
Leadership/Management
Conduct regular 1:1 meetings to support and coach team members
Plan and manage team calendars, priorities, and resource allocation
Oversee development and growth opportunities for team
Evaluate and oversee hiring needs of coffee shop for optimal operations
CTZN Coffee Team and Operations
Volunteer onboarding and development
Lead the volunteer pipeline (taking people from interested, to trained, to scheduled and fully adopted member of the team). Use Planning Center People.
Maintain the team structure with levels of leadership and constantly identify and create places for people. Empower others.
Scheduling: Ensure that volunteers are scheduled and confirmed for the entire month before the new month begins. This includes special events and Sundays.
Ensure that all volunteers are fully trained in excellent customer service and drink/food preparation, with ongoing growth and training focus
Financial Reporting, budget management, and receipts
Stats: Maintain Weekly, Monthly, and Special Events Excel sales sheets
Understand and manage the budget
Turn in all receipts before the monthly deadline
Manage Coffee with a Cause monthly payments and record-keeping in excel
Periodic evaluation for price increases (at least annually)
Monitor profit margin percentage to watch for trouble spots and opportunities
Register updates as needed
Accommodate staff requests to open CTZN Coffee for events whenever possible and likely to be profitable
Product and processes development
Develop and maintain product suppliers, including local as much as possible
Evaluate product offerings and innovate as needed
Maintain all standards, including menu, recipes, team roles, training, opening and closing procedures
Documentation for Archive
All processes and files should be documented and stored on Sharepoint
Co-Church: In everything that we create and do, stay mindful of how we can provide resources from our department to the network
Leave a legacy: Good documentation resources leaders now and leaders of the future to successfully do ministry
Consistent meetings and communication
In person, Basecamp, texts, phone calls. Be an initiator and culture carrier. Lead and contribute with an upbeat attitude.
Meetings include weekly meeting with oversight, Volunteer Director meetings, and all-volunteer team meetings as needed.
Facility Stewardship
Ensure that all CTZN Coffee equipment, including the POS systems, are in good working order and maintained on a regular basis.
Maintain a clean environment that is up to the guidelines of all public health regulations and standards. Ensure the daily and weekly cleaning schedules are completed to a high standard.
Ensure proper product stocking.
Project management
Carry out ideas and vision with excellent follow up. Seek to innovate. Don’t settle.
New campus planning for areas of oversight as requested
Administration of North Campus Development
Work with leadership to gain big picture vision and follow through with project management of the areas listed below:
Payroll strategy (plan is already in place, but may need some adjustments with inflation). This also includes the hiring process and training procedures.
Team scheduling
Equipment (including behind the counter and lobby furnishings)
Drive Through Process/Operation
Marketing
Menu / Product Development
Other tasks as assigned per Finance Executive
While we plan to operate off of this job description habitually, understand that ministry requires a level of flexibility. Be willing to help outside of your job description as much as you are able as could be necessary from time to time. Communicate with your oversight if this becomes a struggle.
Flagship event roles are subject to change from event to event and will be communicated to each staff member after approval from their executive oversight at an appropriate time

III. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to carry heavy boxes/groceries (i.e cases of cups, milk, etc)

Work with all CTZN Coffee volunteers
Manage CTZN Coffee employees

Monday: 8:00am - 4:00pm
Tuesday: 8:00am - 4:00pm
Wednesday: 8:00am - 4:00pm
Thursday: 9:00am - 5:00pm
Friday: Off
Saturday: Off
Sunday: 7:00am - 3:00pm
*Schedule subject to change for necessary events/meetings/shift coverage as needed
