Job Description - City Hall Barista

Since our founding in 2007, BLOC Coffee Company has cared about three things - Coffee, Community, and Change.
Our shop was formed out of a need. BLOC Ministries is an inner city ministry that wanted to create a place for people to gather. They wanted to have a place for people to exist in community- a place that would foster creativity and camaraderie. Thus we were born. 12 years later, we're still here - and constantly working on ways to serve our community better.
Position Summary:
The BLOC Coffee Company is part of BLOC Ministries. BlOC Coffee Company opened a location in City Hall. The barista will be responsible for the day to day operations of BLOC Coffee Company and building relationships with customers.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Prepares quality beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards. Also, follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products.
Acts with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission
Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep the store operating to standard, and set a positive example for the team.
Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
Follows operational policies and procedures, including safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift.
Delivers legendary customer service to all customers by acting with a customer comes first attitude by building relationships and connecting with the customer.
Discovers and responds to customer needs in a timely manner.
Requirements:
Lift and carry boxes, books, and other merchandise.
Ability to stand for up to two or more hours at any given time.
Ability to safely operate coffee equipment as necessary
Previous experience in a coffee shop, café environment a plus
Detail-orientation in performing accurate transactions
Self-motivated and multi-tasks with minimal supervision
Proactively meets both internal and external customer needs.
Effective work methods and consistently meets commitments
Effective communication skills- clear, concise and positive.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule
Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, kneel and bend.
Tues, Wed, and Thurs. 9am-2pm
Saturday/Sunday - Closed
Government holidays - Closed
