SUMMARY
We are looking for a Sr. Training Instructor to work under the direction of the Training Program Manager, working primarily out of our Northern California Fremont headquarters. The Traffic Control Training Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality training programs that educate individuals on the safe and effective management of traffic control systems, as well as company specific policies, procedures, and curricula. This position involves instructing employees on topics such as traffic management techniques, flagging procedures, signage, work zone safety, and regulatory compliance. The instructor will ensure that all participants are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely implement traffic control measures in construction zones, roadwork sites, and other relevant environments. The instructor will also maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and federal traffic control laws and regulations to provide accurate and comprehensive training.
In addition to traffic control training, the instructor will also assist other departments with department-specific training needs, collaborating with teams to provide tailored instruction on safety, operational procedures, and best practices as required. This cross-functional role requires adaptability and a strong ability to transfer knowledge across different areas of the organization.
RESPOSIBILITY
• Deliver Traffic Control Training:
o Plan, prepare, and facilitate training sessions focused on traffic control procedures, flagging techniques, signage, and work zone safety.
o Ensure all training is compliant with local, state, and federal traffic control laws and regulations.
o Tailor training delivery to meet the specific needs of different audiences, from entry-level workers to experienced professionals.
• Evaluate and Monitor Student Performance:
o Assess participants’ comprehension of training content through written tests, practical exercises, and hands-on training.
o Provide constructive feedback to students to support their development and ensure they are equipped to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
o Conduct post training field assessments to evaluate comprehension and effectiveness of training curriculum.
o Participate in employee assessment programs to evaluate employees for promotions
• Collaborate with Other Departments:
o Assist other departments with department-specific training, such as safety protocols, operational procedures, and industry-specific skills.
o Customize training materials and delivery methods to align with the unique needs of each department.
• Maintain Training Materials and Records:
o Develop and update training materials, presentations, and documentation to ensure accuracy and relevance.
o Work with the Training Program Manager and Admin support to maintain records of all training activities, certifications, and evaluations.
• Ensure Safe and Engaging Learning Environment:
o Promote a positive and engaging learning atmosphere, fostering open communication and participation.
o Maintain high safety standards during all training activities, ensuring that participants are aware of and adhere to safety protocols
• Stay Updated on Industry Trends and Regulations:
o Continuously research and stay informed of changes in traffic control laws, safety standards, and best practices.
o Incorporate new regulations or procedures into training programs to ensure that employees are always up to date.
• Provide Support and Mentorship:
o Offer guidance and support to trainees as they apply traffic control procedures on the job.
o Serve as a resource for employees seeking additional knowledge or assistance with traffic control-related issues.
• Assist in Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
o Identify areas for improvement in training programs and suggest enhancements to increase effectiveness.
o Participate in the evaluation and refinement of training content and methods, ensuring continuous improvement of training initiatives.
• Perform the duties of a Field Supervisor during training down times.
• Other Duties as Assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Highschool Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in the Traffic Control Industry at the Lead or Supervisor level.
• Traffic Control Certifications: ATSSA FIT, ATSSA TCT, ATSSA TCS required.
• Minimum 2 years of Training experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills. Able to excel as part of a cross functional team.
• Ability to organize, conduct, and perform trainings, and speak to large groups.
• Strong industry technical research skills.
• Valid CA Driver’s License required with a clean driving record.
• Technical Skills: Proficient with computers and online software programs. Strong proficiency in Learning Management Systems preferred, Strong working proficiency with Microsoft Office suite: Email, Calendar, Word, Excel, Salesforce, PowerPoint; Adobe PDF, online safety databases.
• Familiarity and knowledge of state and federal agency guidelines and compliance including Occupational Health and Safety/OSHA, Department of Transportation, and Department of Industrial Relations, a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to analyze and report on KPIs to drive continuous program improvement.
