Job Summary

The Civil Coordinator provides on-site construction coordination and oversight support for a utility-scale 250 MW / 1,000 MWh Lithium-Ion Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Gainesville, GA. This is a field-based role requiring significant time spent outdoors monitoring and coordinating active civil construction operations on a greenfield site. The position works closely with the EPC contractor, site management, subcontractors, and the owner's project team to ensure safe, on-schedule, and contract-compliant execution of all civil construction activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day oversight of civil construction activities including site clearing, grubbing, BMP installation and maintenance, mass grading, drainage pond construction, site road installation, site stabilization, and concrete foundation installation.
  • Monitor EPC contractor and subcontractor performance for adherence to contract terms, project drawings, technical specifications, and quality plans.
  • Attend daily Plan of the Day (POD) meetings and Job Safety Briefings (JSBs) to assess critical activities and understand hazard mitigation strategies.
  • Provide real-time feedback to the Project Manager on construction progress, developing issues, and invoice accuracy.
  • Document daily construction activities, contractor interactions, and landowner/neighbor interactions through daily logs in project management software.
  • Oversee Quality Assurance activities including verification that Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) are followed, testing is performed, and witness/hold points are observed.
  • Support contract administration including field coordination of activities and management of project documentation such as drawings, specifications, general conditions, and special conditions.
  • Coordinate receipt and delivery of materials and equipment as directed by the project representative.
  • Actively participate in and promote site safety culture; exercise Stop Work Authority when hazardous conditions are identified.
  • Support permitted work activities (LOTO, Confined Space Entry) as the owner's representative when required.
  • Attend and actively participate in all required project and safety meetings.
  • Interpret technical specifications, sealed engineer-of-record drawings, and submittals to ensure construction compliance.
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision and respond to site conditions on behalf of the project team in a timely manner.

Required Certifications and Compliance

  • Level 1A Certification (Blue Card) through the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission, or ability to obtain prior to project start.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience on utility-scale energy projects (BESS, solar, substation, or transmission).
  • Familiarity with EPC contractor environments and quality control documentation.
  • Experience using Unifier or similar project management systems.
  • First Aid / CPR / AED certification.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of civil construction field experience including mass grading, erosion control/BMP management, site clearing, road installation, and/or concrete foundations.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions around active industrial and construction operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation and quality compliance.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineer-of-record sealed drawings and technical specifications.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with EPC contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and site management.
  • Proactive, dependable, and safety-focused work approach.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, starting at 7:00 AM. Overtime, nights, and weekends may be required based on project schedule demand.
