Job Title: Mid-Level Civil Engineer

 

Wood Environment & Infrastructure is seeking a Mid-Level Civil Engineer to help grow our civil design team within our 75+ person Atlanta-area Design Center based in Kennesaw, Georgia. Our civil team includes 15 engineers and designers who deliver engineering and consulting projects to a diverse base of municipal, state, federal, commercial and industrial clients.  Wood offers the technical challenges of projects located throughout the US and the opportunity to collaborate across our 90+ North American offices.

Wood is seeking an energetic Mid-Level Civil Engineer who will fuel growth of our civil engineering department while contributing to technical development of civil engineering designs, drainage plans, erosion and sediment control designs, stormwater models, and permit applications for a wide variety of projects. Recent and ongoing projects include mixed-use developments, industrial facilities, new/restored buildings, parks, trails, veteran’s cemeteries, landfill caps, water/wastewater/stormwater infrastructure improvements, and federal facilities. The position will primarily work in an office/home office setting but may require occasional travel to client facilities in support of business development and project-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop Design and Construction Drawings, including Site, Grading, Utility, and Erosion, Sedimentation and Pollution Control Plans for land development projects
  • Prepare calculation packages for relevant site design aspects
  • Prepare feasibility studies and final designs for stormwater BMPs for new and redevelopment (retrofit) projects
  • Develop technical specifications and assist in construction cost estimation for land development projects
  • Prepare Due Diligence Studies and accompanying cost estimates for a wide range of land development projects
  • Prepare environmental and land development permit applications and compliance reports supporting land development projects
  • Review and comment on contractor submittals and requests for information
  • Conduct construction oversight inspections and closeout activities including final inspections, completion of punch lists, and record drawings
  • Some travel/field work may be required (typically local, but some nationally)
  • Prepare construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Create reports with Hydraflow and similar hydrologic/hydraulic software

 






Qualifications





Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology
  • Engineer in Training certification
  • 2-5 years’ civil design and consulting experience preferred with a focus on site and land development
  • Project experience in land development
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Hydraulic and Hydrologic Software (Hydraflow, HydroCAD, PondPack, HY-8, StormCAD, etc.)
  • Experience in developing construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, and construction planning documents
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in an agile work environment with personnel delivering from multiple locations or remotely
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Client (internal and external) service focus
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective organizational and time management skills with abilities to multi-task and complete various assignments at once

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Industrial and/or municipal government stormwater design experience is a plus 
  • Professional Engineering license a plus

  • MicroStation/InRoads/OpenRoads experience
  • GSWCC Level 1A or Level 2 Certification
  • Pressurized pipe design and hydraulic modeling
  • HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS familiarity
  • Experience in stormwater BMP design including low impact development and green infrastructure stormwater management practices
