Civil Engineer II - Transportation

RETTEW is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Civil Engineer II to join our Transportation Team. In this role, you’ll contribute to projects that shape how people move through our communities—designing safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation solutions. Experience with the Pennsylvania Turnpike and West Virginia projects will make you an even stronger fit.

Location: Mechanicsburg or Lancaster, PA
Work Environment: Hybrid – Three days in-office

What You’ll Do:

• Perform moderate-level design work, including calculations, analysis, and plan development.
  
• Assist with field activities such as construction inspections, materials testing, and permit applications.
  
• Prepare and review engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports.
  
• Ensure compliance with PennDOT standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
  
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality projects on schedule and within budget.
  
• Conduct site visits and inspections as needed.
  
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff.
  
• Coordinate with internal and external project teams, maintaining strong communication throughout.
  

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  
• 4–7 years of transportation engineering experience.
  
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  
• Proficiency in open roads and PennDOT design.
  
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  
• Experience with Pennsylvania Turnpike and West Virginia projects preferred.
  
• Familiarity with AASHTO standards and environmental/sustainability practices a plus.
