Job Description - Civil Engineer I/II - Permits

Job Duties



  • Performs a variety of more difficult technical and supportive professional engineering tasks.

  • Reviews and recommends approval of plans submitted with permit applications for underground utility installation, construction by other governmental units, and plans for all permit paving. 

  • Reviews associated drainage.

  • Attends numerous meetings with other Road Commission departments and various outside governmental and private agencies relative to permit activities.

  • Performs field reviews of proposed construction sites for permit work.

  • Reviews and processes residential driveway permit applications.

  • Must perform duties in a professional and courteous manner to promote a positive image of the Road Commission for Oakland County.

  • Requires a daily schedule that supports RCOC hours of operation.

  • Regular and predictable onsite job attendance is an essential function of this position.



Special Experience/Education




    • A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.

    • A minimum of three (3) years of experience commensurate with the duties described above is required.

    • Experience with Bluebeam and CityWorks is preferred.

    • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License.
