Civil Estimator - Full Time

Location: Dayton, OH, 45377

What you will be doing:

• 
  

  Provide labor, material, and equipment cost estimates for excavating, utility, and related projects.

  
  


• 
  

  Secure contracts, write purchase orders, review submittals and develop project budgets.

  
  


• 
  

  Communicate the budgetary guidelines for awarded projects to the Excavating Department Project and Operations Managers.

  
  


• 
  

  Perform detailed utility take-offs to determine material quantities.

  
  


• 
  

  Perform earthwork take-offs to determine soil quantities, using Trimble Business Center.

  
  


• 
  

  Solicit pricing for required materials from qualified vendors and for work outside of the company’s scope of ability from qualified subcontractors.

  
  


• 
  

  Prepare cost estimates, bid proposals, budgets for secured projects, subcontracts, and purchase orders.

  
  


• 
  

  Assist with the daily responsibilities of the Project Manager as needed.

  
  

Experience you will need:

• 
  

  10+ years of experience estimating projects in the excavating industry.

  
  


• 
  

  Thorough knowledge of Trimble Business Center earthwork estimating and GPS site management software.

  
  


• 
  

  Thorough knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid bidding and Heavy Job project management software.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong analytic and math skills, and detail oriented.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and other industry-related programs.

  
  


• 
  

  An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
