Position Focus
Operating as part of the FAS-SEAS IT, AV Events Support Team, and with great latitude for independent judgment, the Classroom Technology and Media Coordinator 2 consults with faculty, students, and professional staff regarding the use of technology in support of academic instruction, research and University events. This role exhibits advanced technical leadership, advanced programmatic/system understanding, and responsibility for mentoring other team members. This position serves as a primary point of contact and go-to escalation resource for complex issues, helping ensure consistent coverage and service continuity.
Required Skills and Abilities
1.Advanced expertise working with video conferencing, video collaboration, webcasting, and course capture technologies such as Zoom, Teams, and Panopto. Experience with Zoom Webinars.
2.Advanced troubleshooting capability for complex, high-impact classroom and live event incidents and ability working in a fast-paced customer-focused AV support environment.
3.Excellent interpersonal skills. Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Confidence, diplomacy and professionalism to lead, motivate, and interact successfully with clients and service providers.
4.Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to provide guidance, act as an escalation point for less experienced staff, and coordinate response during support demands.
5.Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams. Ability to organize, prioritize and manage assignments and projects and knowledge of electronics, electrical interfaces, audio concepts, and networking infrastructure and protocols as applied to audio-visual systems devices.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
1.Experience with non-linear video and audio editing.
2.Experience providing audio-visual support services for faculty, students and staff in a university setting.
3.Experience providing support for AV equipment.
4.Experience providing support for iOS, MacOS, Windows, and Android devices with AV equipment.
5.Experience mentoring or training staff, including sharing best practices and helping standardize support approaches across classrooms and events.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:30am - 6:00pm. Occasional weekends may also be required.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Consults with faculty to assess their classroom and instructional technology needs. Chooses or develops solutions that support pedagogical goals and interoperability within classrooms. 2. Provides technical support services including control system networking, configuration, and basic programming. 3. Performs systems installation, including cable termination and rack assembly. 4. Troubleshoots audio-visual control systems that utilize various interfaces. 5. Performs system diagnostics, assigns device ID's and updates firmware using software programming and design tools. 6. Manages applicable resources remotely, performs system diagnostics, analyzes usage patterns and logs network activity. 7. Develops testing and calibration procedures for installations in production environments. 8. Supports basic networking systems and protocols with an understanding of client-specific networking and security requirements. 9. Coordinates and facilitates technology, infrastructure, and environmental, operational and related support issues. 10. Oversees daily support services for assigned zones and serves as the initial point of contact for resolving problems in these zones. 11. Maintains proficiency in audio-visual technology and applies this knowledge to audio-visual systems integration and support services. 12. Coordinates, organizes, and executes audio-visual support. 13. Develops and edits departmental documentation regarding system specifications and usage. 14.
