Job Overview
As a Client Accounting Services Senior Associate, you will play a key role in supporting and advising our clients through accurate accounting, timely financial reporting, and meaningful analysis. In this role, you will take the lead on more complex accounting scenarios, assist with financial modeling, mentor others, and serve as a resource for advanced questions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Make recommendations based on analysis of more complex client accounting records, including consolidations, cost accounting, and industry-specific reporting, while serving as a resource to staff
- Produce and review financial statements, management reports, and account reconciliations across multiple clients, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery
- Lead continual analysis of processes and procedures and implement improvements, identifying automation or system enhancements and coaching staff on updated workflows
- Prepare and/or review client income, sales, payroll, and other tax returns, confirming accuracy and coordinating with the tax department to identify planning opportunities
- Collect and review appropriate data, prepare federal, state, and local reports and tax returns, and ensure timely and accurate filing in collaboration with tax personnel
- Compile, analyze, and review staff-prepared journal entries and general ledger activity, ensuring proper accounting treatment and documentation under GAAP
- Assist clients with accounting questions, special projects, and emerging needs
- Perform and review advanced statistical and financial analyses to identify trends, estimates, variances, and operational drivers, and translate those insights into actionable recommendations and narrative reports
- Analyze and review financial information detailing assets, liabilities, equity, profit and loss, and cash flow to prepare and interpret financial statements and management reports, including projections
- Monitor compliance with GAAP, firm policies, and engagement requirements
- Review Associate and intern investigations of errors and inconsistencies, resolve issues, and recommend internal control improvements to mitigate recurrence
- Conduct studies and present recommendations for improving client accounting operations and support implementation of approved changes
- Maintain frequent and proactive client communication to obtain needed information, clarify expectations, and ensure deliverables remain on schedule
- Support team development by reviewing work prepared by Associates and interns, providing feedback, and helping model firm quality, efficiency, and client service standards
Qualifications
Education/Licensing
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or other relevant field, from an accredited university required
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience in public accounting or outsourced client accounting
- Active pursuit of CPA certification preferred
Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Familiarity with tax compliance requirements including payroll, sales/use, and income tax filings
- Strong analytical and diagnostic skills; ability to make decisions
- Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Software
- Microsoft Office Suite experience
- Knowledge of Accounting Software required (QuickBooks experience preferred)
