Black Bear Talent is recruiting a Client Services Specialist for a full-time, temp-to-hire position with a local facility working varied evening and night shifts.
This position plays an important role in delivering excellent customer service, supporting departmental goals, and contributing to a patient-centered environment through service excellence and quality performance standards.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients or legal representatives to gather information, verify insurance eligibility, identify payment sources, obtain upfront payments, and secure necessary signatures on consent and registration forms. Communicate financial responsibility clearly and refer to a Financial Advocate when needed.
- Review physician orders for completeness and compliance, enter lab or radiology orders, check Medicare medical necessity, and obtain Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) signatures when required. Scan and document all necessary records in the health information system, including notes to support account follow-up.
- Provide professional, compassionate service while interacting with patients, families, insurers, providers, and facility staff. Adapt interview techniques to the age and needs of patients and maintain a collaborative, patient-centered approach aligned with organizational values.
- Accurately enter patient demographics, bed placement, room accommodations, service locations, and status changes for admissions, transfers, or direct admits. Ensure documentation is complete and compliant with federal, state, and facility requirements.
- Complete registration quality audits in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and adherence to facility policies and standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Good attendance and punctuality
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a patient- or customer-facing role
- Eligible to work in the U.S. and meet Virginia state employment requirements
- Strong communication, active listening, and customer service skills
- Computer proficiency, including typing at 35 WPM
- Detail-oriented with sound judgment and critical thinking
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt to change
- Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen
