The clinical pharmacy specialist provides for staff development activities and the coordination of staff operational activities within cardiovascular services; serves as educational and informational resource to physicians, medical residents, advanced practice providers, pharmacy staff, nursing staff, patients, and other allied health professionals; assists with planning, organizing, and implementation of clinical pharmacy programs across Premier Health; identifies processes and tools to guide the pharmacy staff in the utilization of the most appropriate and cost-effective medication therapy including drug preparation and procurement, ensuring high quality, safety, and positive patient outcomes.\n\n \n\n \n\nEducation\n\n \n\nMinimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor\u0027s degree\n\n \n\nAdditional requirements:\n\n\u00a7 Type of degree: B.S.Pharm from an accredited college of pharmacy is required\n\n\u00a7 Area of study or major: Pharmacy\n\n\u00a7 Preferred educational qualifications: PharmD from an accredited college of pharmacy\n\n\u00a7 Position specific testing requirement: N/A\n\n \n\nLicensure/Certification/Registration\n\n \n\n\u00a7 Current licensure as a registered pharmacist by the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy, or eligibility to become licensed within 60 days of employment start date\n\n\u00a7 Board-Certified Cardiology Pharmacy Specialist (BCCP) or completed within the timelines defined by BPS to sit for examination\n\n\u00a7 Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 90 days of employment start date\n\n \n\nExperience\n\n \n\nMinimum Level of Experience Required: 1 - 3 years of job-related experience\n\nPrior job title or occupational experience: N/A\n\nPrior specific functional responsibilities: N/A\n\nPreferred experience: Meets the preceptor criteria as outlined by ASHP \n\nOther experience requirements: \n\n\u00b7 Completion of a post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or fellowship required -or-\n\n\u00b7 Completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY1) plus minimum of 2 years of experience as a clinical specialist or equivalent role which includes providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring -or-\n\n\u00b7 Minimum of 3 years of experience as a clinical specialist or equivalent role which includes providing pharmaceutical care and performing pharmacotherapeutic monitoring\n\n \n\n \n\nKnowledge/Skills\n\n \n\n\u00b7 Fluent in the use of drug information resources\n\n\u00b7 Ability to evaluate primary medical literature and develop evidence-based recommendations for treatment regimens\n\n\u00b7 Ability to perform Medication Use Evaluations (MUE) and submit recommendations for change within the health system\n\n\u00b7 Ability to provide pharmacokinetic and weight-based dosing\n\n\u00b7 Possess good interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and\n\nproblem- solving skills\n\n\u00b7 Ability to read and write printed material in English\n\n\u00b7 Ability to effectively perform patient interviews and medication counseling\n\n\u00b7 Ability to work well with other health care workers and perform well within a team\n\n\u00b7 Proficient with bedside aseptic technique\n\n\u00b7 Must be customer-service oriented\n\n\u00b7 Proficiency with computer keyboard operations\n\n\u00b7 Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferred\n\n\u00b7 Ability to troubleshoot problems and/or do minor maintenance on all pharmacy equipment, printers, computers, and telecommunication equipment with adequate training in the pharmacy.
