Job Description - Clinic CMA/LPN - Days

            TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Treat all individuals with dignity and respect while maintaining agency standards of confidentiality, professionalism and objectivity. 

  2. Prepare patients for the practitioners, including taking and documenting vitals, reviewing and updating current medications, and providing patients with and recording appropriate screening documents.

  3. Prepare the practitioner for the patient with pertinent information.

  4. Fax/call in medications when necessary.

  5. Record all medications (current and prescribed) in patient chart.

  6. Respond to “nursing line” messages and answer phone calls.

  7. Communicate necessary information regarding patient medications with pharmacies.

  8. Complete any required public heath forms and mail them.

  9. Check staff mailbox in the copier room daily.

  10. Provide injections.

  11. Meet with drug representatives.

  12. Facilitate appropriate responses and documentation to the courts re: any patients on committal.

  13. Distributing and charting sample medications and maintaining inventory log.

  14. Facilitate and document urinalyses.

  15. Ongoing communication with practitioners regarding any patient concerns or needs.

  16. Maintain cleanliness in the prescribing area.

  17. Talk/meet with patients who present with medication problems and/or questions.

  18. Lab draws, when ordered.

  19. Documentation of medical information in electronic health record.

  20. Sets up for dispensing of methadone and dispenses medication, (LPN).

  21. Places and receives orders for methadone, (LPN).

  22. Reconciles inventory of methadone at the conclusion of dosing, (LPN).

  23. Calibrates Methadone pump (LPN).

  24. All other duties as defined by supervisor.


 


Qualifications and useful skills:



  1. Must minimally be licensed in the State of Iowa and in good standing.

  2. Two years’ experience in a clinic setting preferred.

  3. Supportive of the mission of Prairie Ridge and the patients we serve.

  4. Proficiency in oral and written communication skills, as well as documentation requirements.

  5. Technology skills allowing for proficiency in use of electronic health record.

  6. Ability to be flexible, organized, and functional under stressful situations.

  7. Valid driver’s license and insurance on vehicle
