Job Description - Clinic Educator MA

Position Summary:


 


The Clinic Educator is responsible for preparing medical assistants, providers, and other staff deemed appropriate, in the delivery of accurate and quality patient care by providing a coordinated onboarding, education, and competency program training for clinic staff. The Clinic Educator will provide on-going support as needed and serve as a role model to promote healthy and accurate functions within the clinic.


 


The Clinic Educator is expected to work in a team-based environment where the approach is a whole person care approach that engages the patient in their health care and requires all team members to be effective and supportive communicators. A high degree of integration and collaboration is required to meet the varying and changing needs of our patients.


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Trains, mentors, and coach’s clinic staff on clinical policies, procedures, and practices within the scope of licensure.


· Evaluates and validates competency teaching of new hires, develops education/training plan to mitigate clinical competency gaps and identified needs. Uses standard tools, templates, and processes in training development, competency validation, and documentation.


· Collaborates with operational leadership staff to facilitate coordinated onboarding.


· Develops and/or refines educational material and course documentation with clinical leadership which includes educational and clinic-based activities. Evaluates educational effectives, makes revisions, and documents improvements to current program.


· Assists in the assessment of learning requirements; develops and implements educational plan to address identified enhancements to the program; proposes modifications to the QI director.


· Lead implementation of new functionality and upgrades by interpreting HER updates.


· Assists with satisfying care measures by exploring new workflows, monitoring, and improving clinical outcomes.


· Work with CHTN support staff and attend superuser meetings and courses.


· Supports organizational initiatives by participating in workflow development, go live support, and ongoing reinforcement of standard work and best practice.


· Collaborates with a variety of personnel and departments to ensure smooth clinic operations.


· Performs new hire immunization, fit mask testing, and TB screening on appropriate new hires.


· Will occasionally work in the capacity of Medical Assistant if needed due to low staffing levels.


· Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work practices and instructions.


 


Non-Essential Functions: Performs other duties as assigned.


 


 


Education/Training/Experience:


 


· Minimum of High School diploma (or equivalent).


· Graduate of a formal medical assisting or practical nursing training program.


· Certification (CMA) or Registration (RMA) or Licensure (LPN) preferred.


· Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Medical Assistant.


· Must have BLS certification or the ability to attain one.


· Previous experience as an educator or Lead Medical Assistant Preferred.
