The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cancer Care Center provides compassionate, patient-centered care to oncology patients in an outpatient setting. This role is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized care, including the safe administration of chemotherapy, patient education, symptom management, and emotional support throughout the treatment journey. The RN collaborates closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary team, responds effectively to changes in patient condition, and performs a variety of clinical and administrative responsibilities, including lab draws, electronic documentation, procedure support, and insurance authorizations. This position also serves as a mentor to new nursing staff and, with experience, may assume charge nurse and telephone triage responsibilities.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Demonstrate ability to accept responsibility as a Cancer Care Center staff RN (job specific). 2 years acute care or relevant experience required. If PRN position, at least 1 year chemotherapy administration with chemotherapy certification required.
EDUCATION: Graduate of professional school of nursing required.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: Current Montana License as a Registered Nurse required. Current and valid American Heart Association BLS certification required. Certification in Oncology Nursing required within 3 years of hire. Completion of Chemotherapy/Oncology course and competency to be eligible to hang chemotherapy required within six months after hire date with recertification every 2 years. Continued chemotherapy education/competencies required yearly or as needed.
