Job Description - Clinical Assistant

The Clinical Assistant is a mid-level supervisory role. In this position, you will provide direct therapy services to clients as assigned and also act as a Qualified Behavioral Health Provider (QBHP) or a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) for insurance-funded clients.

Key Points:

  • You will work closely under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • You cannot change a client’s treatment plan without approval from your supervisor.
  • You must follow the ethical guidelines set by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  • This role helps you gain supervised fieldwork hours needed for BCBA certification, while also providing therapy.
  • It combines providing therapy and supervising staff.

Daily Tasks:

  • Support your supervising clinician with managing an assigned group of clients.
  • Train and supervise behavior technicians.
  • Deliver direct therapy to clients.
  • Conduct assessments and help develop treatment plans.
  • Train staff and support the clinical team.
  • Help create and update policies and procedures.
  • Conduct parent sessions.
  • Support the team as needed.

What You Need to Be Successful:

  • A positive, professional attitude.
  • Ability to think independently and solve problems.
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills.
  • Critical thinking related to behavior analysis.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work in various school environments
  • Ability to work with individuals with different behaviors (e.g., aggression, self-injury, eloping, property destruction).
  • Comfort working with clients of all ages, from infants to adults.
  • Skills in calming and de-escalating challenging behaviors.
  • Ability to support new clients independently when needed.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service to clients and partners.
  • Implement evidence-based ABA procedures (therapy, assessments, parent and staff training).
  • Use clinical software (CentralReach) to track progress and update programs.
  • Document all client sessions accurately and on time.
  • Develop and submit treatment plans.
  • Understand insurance billing and ensure services meet funding requirements.
  • Aim to use at least 90% of authorized hours each month.
  • Submit treatment plans quickly and correctly.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and stay current in ABA practices.
  • Follow billing standards and ethical guidelines.
  • Maintain a safe and respectful work environment.
  • Follow all company policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by your supervisor.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in ABA, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Master’s program in ABA, seeking BCBA certification (must be actively working toward certification).
  • Certified as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), unless you hold a Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • Must provide documentation of completing at least three BACB-approved coursework modules.
  • Must meet state, county, and insurance requirements for your Washington.
  • Complete First Aid and CPR training within 30 days of hire. REQUIRED.
  • Pass background checks and fingerprinting. REQUIRED.
  • Complete a TB test. REQUIRED.

Pay Scale:

Direct Intervention: $28.00-$30.00/hour

Supervision: $35.00-$40.00/hour
