Clinical Counselor - SUD Residential/PHP

Zepf Center has been serving the Lucas County community for over 50 years. We are the leading provider of behavioral health and substance use disorder services in Northwest Ohio. Services include adult and child psychiatric, substance abuse, case management, residential, Crisis Care, and therapy programs, as well as career development and wellness services. Zepf Center also offers primary care medical services to our patients to contribute to their continuum of care. Zepf Center is a trauma-informed agency and environment for both patients and staff.

General Summary:

This individual is responsible for the day-to-day treatment and programming for patients participating in Zepf inpatient residential and partial hospitalization program (PHP). This is a hybrid position which generally consists of working 3 days in inpatient residential and 2 days in PHP, with flexibility. Duties include patient assessment, linkage, intake, individual, group counseling, and case management. A high level of professionalism and flexibility is essential for the individual to complete job responsibilities.

It is expected and essential for all employees to meet their regular work schedule. All employees within this department will be required to learn all aspects of their position even when tasks/responsibilities are divided among staff member and/or shifts.

We are currently seeking a full-time SUD Clinical Counselor to provide specialized therapeutic services to individuals admitted to our inpatient substance use treatment program. The therapist will conduct assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, provide counseling, and facilitate group therapy sessions to support clients in their recovery journey.

Hours: Monday-Friday; 8:30am-4:30pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain and promote a healthy lifestyle and adhere to productivity requirements and procedures as defined by management staff.
• Complete biopsychosocial assessments and ASAM to determine level of care as required.
• Identify and evaluate an individual's strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences (S-N-A-P) for the development of an individualized service plan and on-going monitoring of progress.
• Monitor and reassess clinical needs and treatment goals regularly
• Provide individual counseling focused on relapse prevention, recovery, and co-occurring mental health concerns
• Coordinate with outside providers for continuity of care and linkage to community resources
• Respond to crises and provide appropriate de-escalation
• Present educational programs in a group setting on such topics as: the disease of chemical dependency, AIDS, special population recovery issues, relapse, sober support activities, and family recovery issues.
• Facilitate patient referrals when indicated.
• Facilitate consultation with other professionals when indicated.
• Complete required patient record documentation within agency and regulatory periods.
• Participate in regular patient staffing with appropriate treatment facility staff.
• Orient patients to guidelines governing the program.
• Work flexible hours/departments depending on patient care and programmatic needs.
• Adhere to all OhioMHAS, CARF and other governing body’s protocols for care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications: 

• Preferred master's degree or a related field with an active Ohio LPC, LSW, LPCC, LISW, or LICDC licesnse; Consideration for those with a bachelor's degree with Ohio LSW, LPC, or LCDC III. 
• Have completed one year of an internship with a concentration or focus in group and individual therapy services OR one year worked experience providing clinical service.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of the disease of chemical dependency and recovery including knowledge of family disease and sober support activities.
• Demonstrated continuum of patient care and the transition/placement in the various phases of treatment.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of patient confidentiality and patient rights.
• Demonstrated computer proficiency and literacy including proper documentation in an electronic health records system, and the use of Microsoft office products.
• CPR and First Aid trained, and crisis intervention (CPI) trained.
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to be covered under the agency’s commercial car insurance.
• Proof of car insurance for the vehicle that will be driven during business.

Environmental Conditions 

Could include: Air-conditioned and/or heated office setting, time spent “in the field”, which could involve driving to residences, schools, doctor’s offices, and various locations in the community. Could also include transporting patients to and from appointment
