Job Description - Clinical Director (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, or equivalent)

Clinical Director | LCSW, LMHC, LMFT or equivalent | Castle Rock, CO (On-Site) | Mon–Fri, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM | $115K – $125K |

Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking an experienced Clinical Director to lead clinical operations at our Castle Rock, CO facility; a 60-bed, full-continuum program offering medically monitored detox (ASAM 3.7), residential SUD and mental health treatment, and PHP across both tracks. This is a high-impact leadership role with direct accountability for clinical quality, staff performance, regulatory compliance, and patient safety.

Reporting to the Executive Director and VP of Clinical Services, the Clinical Director serves as the clinical compass of the facility by shaping program culture, driving excellence, and ensuring every patient receives trauma-informed, evidence-based care.

About the Company

Banyan Treatment Centers is a leading national provider of intensive treatment for individuals facing substance use and mental health disorders. Backed by TPG, one of the nation’s largest private equity investors, Banyan is rapidly expanding access to high-quality, compassionate care.

Why Join Banyan Treatment Centers?

This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact, as a Therapist, you will:

  • Own clinical excellence at a full-continuum facility where your decisions directly shape outcomes across detox, residential, and PHP — with the resources and organizational backing to do it right.

  • Lead a team that's invested. You'll inherit skilled clinicians who care about their work, and have the authority to recruit, develop, and build the clinical culture you believe in.

  • Partner at the executive level. Reporting directly to the Executive Director and VP of Clinical Services, you'll have real influence on program direction, growth, and strategic planning.

  • Operate in an environment built for compliance and quality — Joint Commission accredited, with established infrastructure and a leadership team that takes regulatory excellence seriously.

  • Grow with a nationally expanding organization backed by significant investment, with long-term career pathways in clinical and operational leadership.

Benefits

Eligible full-time team members receive comprehensive benefits including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Life insurance and disability coverage

  • 401(k) with employer match

  • Paid time off and holidays

  • Wellness incentives and employee assistance programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical vision and leadership aligned with Banyan’s mission, values, and philosophy of care.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical programming and treatment services.

  • Use clinical data (outcomes, utilization, AMA rates, and QA findings) to guide program improvement and strategic decision-making.

  • Lead, supervise, mentor, and develop clinicians and clinical support staff.

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and evaluate clinical personnel.

  • Oversee daily clinical operations, continuity of care, including ASAM determinations, and level-of-care decisions.

  • Conduct and oversee clinical chart audits, quality assurance, and performance improvement activities.

  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CARF, CMS, and state and federal regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain HIPAA-compliant confidentiality standards; oversee incident reporting, corrective action, and emergency preparedness.

  • Work collaboratively with Medical, Nursing, Admissions, Operations, and Case Management teams.

  • Lead multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and clinical staffing forums.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, payors, and community partners.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related human services field.

  • Active, unrestricted clinical license in Colorado required: LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, or equivalent.

  • 5–7 years of progressive clinical experience in substance use and/or mental health treatment.

  • Minimum 3 years of formal management experience, including staff supervision and program oversight.

  • Demonstrated experience with regulatory compliance and clinical quality assurance.

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of clinical management experience in residential or intensive levels of care.

  • Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or a related field.

  • Master’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.

  • Addiction-specific or trauma-focused certifications (e.g., CAP, CAADC, Trauma Certification).

Competencies

  • Skilled in ASAM criteria, utilization review, level-of-care determinations, and managing complex clinical presentations across SUD and co-occurring disorders.

  • Ability to inspire, coach, and hold clinical staff accountable while building a high-performance, mission-aligned team culture.

  • Working knowledge of Joint Commission, CARF, CMS, HIPAA, and state licensing standards with demonstrated ability to maintain and sustain compliance.

  • Proficient in data-driven quality assurance, chart auditing, and performance improvement processes.

  • Able to communicate clearly and credibly across clinical staff, executive leadership, payors, families, and external partners.

  • Competent in incident response, risk mitigation, safety planning, and emergency preparedness in high-acuity settings.

  • Ability to manage clinical operations across multiple programs and levels of care with efficiency and fidelity to clinical standards.

  • Committed to trauma-informed, patient-centered care and adherence to professional and organizational ethical standards.
