Job Summary

The Clinical Equipment & Surgical Support Specialist (Surgical Tech) keeps in-office procedures (IOP) ready, supported and consistent across every office. The position leads the IOP workflow on site, trains medical assistants, and keeps equipment tracked, maintained and repaired.

Requirements

READINESS & COORDINATION

  • Coordinate with every office to check IOP readiness status
  • Monitor inventory levels for balloons and other IOP equipment, and send inventory update emails
  • Invite vendors 1-2 weeks ahead of procedures so they can support their cases

WORKFLOW ORCHESTRATION & TRAINING

  • Orchestrate and lead the IOP workflow on site, rather than working hands-on
  • Train and develop medical assistants so they are comfortable and confident performing in-office procedures
  • Serve as the trainer and support person for medical assistants

TECHNICAL SUPPORT

  • Handle preference card changes and updates for IOP
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues as they arise
  • Implement SOPs created by the IOP/Surgical Tech Manager and provide feedback on them, rather than authoring them

EQUIPMENT REPAIR & TRACKING

  • Use the ticketing system and stay in open communication with the IOP/Equipment Manager to coordinate repairs
  • Help keep the preventive maintenance (PM) program on track
  • Track on-site equipment by serial number and scope
  • Diagnose equipment issues independently where possible
  • Relay issues to the team and to the designated service person or vendor handling the repair

ESCALATION

  • Use sound judgment, based on experience and severity, to decide whether an issue goes through the ticketing system or directly to IOP leadership or the IOP/Equipment Manager
  • Flag daily-use critical equipment (e.g., chairs, autoclaves) immediately and directly to the IOP/Equipment Manager when a failure could slow or stop a clinic from seeing patients

CROSS-OFFICE CONSISTENCY

  • Once finalized and rolled out, the SOPs are the standard followed across all offices.

COMMUNICATION & ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Send a weekly status update to IOP leadership
  • Stay in constant, hand-in-hand communication with the IOP Manager, serving as a core support system for that department
  • Escalate anything outside the scope of the role to the IOP Manager

SCOPE BOUNDARIES

  • Vendor contracts and supply ordering stay with IOP leadership
  • SOPs are authored by the IOP/Surgical Tech Manager; this role implements them and gives feedback
  • The role orchestrates and leads the workflow rather than working hands-on in procedures
