Compensation: $23.94 - 43.50 / hour (Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.)

As a Clinical Laboratory Technician, you are the unseen engine behind our hospital's critical medical decisions. Working in our high-complexity diagnostic lab, you will perform, analyze, and validate vital laboratory testing across biochemical, blood bank, hematology, microbiology, and urinalysis disciplines. Your precision, speed, and analytical expertise directly provide physicians with the objective data required to accurately diagnose and save patient lives every day.

How You Will Fulfill Your Potential (Responsibilities)
Conducts a variety of testing procedures on patient specimen samples according to physician orders and analyzes test results to determine the presence of normal and abnormal components.
Utilizes the laboratory information system to report all test results which will be reviewed by a NYSDOH supervisor qualified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
Follows Standard Precautions and adheres to hospital and departmental safety policies and regulations.
Conducts quality control (QC) testing to ensure accuracy of clinical data. Notifies supervisor and initiates SOP’S when QC is out of limits. Verifies and documents instrument function by monitoring and calibrating specific instruments. Participates in proficiency testing activities.
Performs and documents routine PM on assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure. Documents any repairs, replacements, and maintenance needs of instruments or equipment.
Consults supervisor/pathologist as required. Documents and notifies all “Critical Test Values” and “Call test values” to the appropriate floor /office and physician. This information is entered in to the LIS in a precise and timely manner.
Demonstrates effective problem solving and team building skills. May assist in the training of technical staff regarding SOP’s.
Following SOP’S may prepare slides for cytological screening by both pathologists and cytotechnologists.
