Job Description - Clinical Medical Assistant - South Salem Primary Care

Medical Assistant - Clinical Phone Support 


We’re looking for a full-time (40 hrs/week) Medical Assistant to provide clinical call support. This on-site role will involve traveling to different clinics based on need, but your primary home clinic can be whichever location is closest to you—Salem, Albany, McMinnville, or Dallas, OR. This position is a great fit for someone with clinical knowledge who may not want hands-on.

About the Role


As a Medical Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting providers and ensuring seamless patient care. Your responsibilities will include:



  • Monitoring and managing task box messages across assigned clinics (e.g., patient messages, lab results, refill requests)

  • Responding to patient inquiries per clinical protocols

  • Routing tasks to the appropriate providers or team members

  • Ensuring timely follow-up and accurate documentation in the EMR

  • Updating medical records


Minimum Qualifications 


High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)


✅ Medical Assisting diploma from an accredited vocational institution or a community college program preferred


✅ At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant 


✅ Ability to multi-task and provide support to multiple providers


✅ Strong customer service skills and attention to detail


✅ BLS certification (or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire)


✅ Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) preferred

General Physical Requirements 



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.


  • The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch.



  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.



  • Work Environment: Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings.



OSHA Category
This position performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues. All employees performing these duties are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis-B vaccination series.
