Job Description - Clinical Nurse Specialist, NICU/Peds

HCT has an immediate need for an Interim Clinical Nurse Specialist, NICU/Peds in CA.


The Registered Nurse will provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to neonatal and pediatric patients within a hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical expertise in the specific patient population, demonstrate sound clinical judgment, and provide compassionate, family-centered care while maintaining compliance with California regulatory and pediatric healthcare standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to neonatal and/or pediatric patients based on individual patient needs.
  • Assess patients, develop and implement nursing care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
  • Monitor patient conditions and promptly recognize and respond to changes in clinical status.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Educate patients' families and caregivers regarding treatment plans, medications, procedures, and ongoing care needs.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing Degree required
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of registered nursing experience in the specific area of patient care relevant to the assignment.
  • License: CA RN license required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • At least one (1) year of experience providing pediatric clinical care.

Additional NICU Requirements:
Candidates working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) must meet the requirements outlined in the California Children’s Services (CCS) Manual of Procedures, Chapter 3.25.3, including:

  • Successful completion of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Current Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing certification from a nationally recognized credentialing organization, such as the National Certification Corporation (NCC).

Expenses covered while on assignment include housing, airfare, and rental car.
