Join our dynamic team at Oxford BioDynamics as a Clinical Operations Assistant at our US premises in Frederick, Maryland, and contribute to our mission of "innovation saving lives." 



Company Overview:


We are an international biotechnology company, advancing personalized healthcare by developing and commercializing precision clinical diagnostic tests for life-changing diseases. Our tests are based on OBD's proprietary 3D genomic biomarker platform, EpiSwitch® which enables screening, evaluation, validation and monitoring of biomarkers to diagnose patients or determine how individuals might respond to a disease or treatment.


Currently OBD has two commercially available products: the EpiSwitch® PSE (Prostate Cancer Detection) blood test and EpiSwitch® CiRT (cancer immunotherapy response) blood test.


Our clinical smart tests have the potential to be used across a broader range of indications, and new tests are being developed in the areas of oncology, neurology, inflammation, hepatology and animal health.


The Group’s US operations and clinical laboratory are in Frederick, Maryland. Our headquarters and UK laboratories are in Oxford, UK, and we have a reference laboratory in Penang, Malaysia.



Role Overview:


The Clinical Operations Assistant is responsible for administrative support of daily laboratory operations. This is a laboratory-based position whose functions may include receiving and handling biological samples, managing inventory of reagents and materials, laboratory/equipment maintenance, and coordinating domestic and international shipping.


 


Key Responsibilities:



  • Receive, inspect, and handle specimens following approved laboratory procedures. Identify and report any issues that may impact specimen integrity.

  • Accession clinical specimens using the company’s laboratory information management system (LIMS), centrifuge, aliquot, and store as required.

  • Maintain accurate chain-of-custody and documentation for all specimen handling steps.

  • Operate laboratory equipment such as pipettes, centrifuges, biosafety cabinets accurately and safely.

  • Prepare and organize laboratory supplies and materials, including inventory management and placing orders to ensure adequate supply.

  • Perform and document preparation of solutions, dilutions, and calculations as needed, adhering to all chemical hygiene, biosafety, and laboratory safety regulations.

  • Contribute to laboratory cleaning and maintenance duties and associated documentation (e.g., maintenance logs, physical/electronic inventories, labelling).

  • Abide by all safety requirements as defined by the company, including proper use of personal protective equipment for working with human materials and chemicals.

  • Coordinate domestic and international shipping as needed.

  • Collaborate with clinical and quality teams to troubleshoot and continuously improve laboratory operations processes.



Qualifications and Experience:



  • High school diploma or equivalent with 1 year of experience in a laboratory or clinical setting is essential. An associate degree in relevant subjects would be an advantage.

  • Basic knowledge of laboratory etiquette is essential. Experience working in a laboratory that processes biological samples is highly preferred.

  • Strong Microsoft office skills are essential. Experience with a LIMS (laboratory information management system) is an advantage.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.

  • Able to demonstrate proficiency in working in a laboratory environment.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail and a focus on quality results.



  • Ability to multitask effectively.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment.



We offer an exciting, collaborative culture and a salary of between $39,500 and $45,760 gross per year. We also offer health, dental, vision, 401(k) as well as holidays and vacation.
