POSITION DESCRIPTION

Carolinas Pathology Group seeks a qualified MD/DO clinical pathologist to provide leadership in hospital-based laboratory medicine in the South Carolina upstate (Greenville/Spartanburg region).

This individual will provide visible and accessible leadership for all aspects of laboratory medicine, acting as the primary liaison with laboratory senior leadership and administrative staff, referring clinicians, and hospital and medical leadership. Responsibilities will also include ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements of CAP, CLIA, and other agencies, providing leadership for and management of the technologist workforce, development and evaluation of test procedures, adherence to quality control standards and accurate reporting of test findings, providing testing stewardship and education to the medical staff, and collaboration with other laboratory directors within the system in evaluating reference laboratory testing and testing instrumentation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: Must have an MD or DO from an accredited school
• Certification: Board certified in Clinical Pathology (CP), with subspecialty CP training preferred but not required 
• Licensure: Have or successfully obtain a South Carolina license to practice medicine (MD)
• Other: Laboratory leadership experience preferred but not required
